12 Best Cafes to Work in Lisbon [Laptop-Friendly Cafes 2024]

by

Lisbon is fast becoming one of the digital nomad capitals of the world.

And it’s not hard to see why!

Remote workers from around the globe are flocking to Lisbon for its sunny climate, vibrant culture, and growing nomad community.

I recently spent over a month working in Lisbon, and during my time in the city, I tested out working from a load of different cafes.

There are plenty of trendy laptop-friendly cafes with fast Wi-Fi and plug sockets here – and luckily for you, I’ve rounded up the best of the best!

So whether you’re a local or a tourist, scroll on for the 12 best cafes to work in Lisbon.

1. Outsite Cowork Cafe

outsite-coworking-cafe-best-cafes-to-work-in-lisbon

Address: Rua de S. Paulo 109, 1200-275 Lisboa

Opening hours: 9 am to 8 pm Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 6 pm Friday

Specifically designed as a coworking cafe, Outsite Cowork Cafe firmly deserves its #1 spot on this list of the best cafes to work in Lisbon.

This is the only work cafe in Lisbon on this list that requires you to purchase a pass to use the space – but I promise it’s well worth it.

Daily passes cost €17, whereas weekly passes come in at €70 and monthly passes at €150.

For this, you get unlimited hot desk access Monday to Friday, Wi-Fi, meeting room and phone booth access, and one welcome drink.

They also offer flexible passes for €150 which allow you to use the space for ten days over a one-year period.

If you’re looking to get your head down and have a productive day’s work, or if you need a quiet space to take calls, this is the place to do it!

Need something to whet your appetite or quench your thirst?

Then look no further than their coffee, juices, and brunch menu which includes delights like avo toast and smoothie bowls.

With a coliving space upstairs, Outsite knows a thing or two about what digital nomads need, and their coworking cafe definitely proves this.

2. Honest Greens

Address: Multiple locations

Opening hours: 8 am to 12 am Sunday to Wednesday, 8 am to 1 am Thursday to Saturday

Aside from Outsite, Honest Greens is probably my favourite place to work in Lisbon, with its Cais do Sodré location being the jewel in its crown!

This huge building is made up of three rooms, so there’s always space for you and your laptop.

There are over 170 seats inside, as well as 100 seats outside if you want to take your work out into the sunshine.

Honest Greens are super laptop-friendly so you’ll find yourself surrounded by like-minded workers at every angle – especially if you set up shop in their back room!

Wi-Fi is fast and free, so you’ll never struggle for connection, though plug sockets are limited so be sure to charge your laptop before you arrive.

They also stay open until late (either 12 or 1 am, depending on the day) so it’s a great option if you work later hours.

Whether you’re health-conscious or not, you’ll love their menu.

From tasty vegan options to meat-based salads to sweet treats from their coffee counter, there’s something for everyone here.

Top tip: buy a refillable drink to continue working here guilt-free and on a budget!

3. Comobå

Address: Rua da Boavista 90, 1200-085 Lisboa

Opening hours: 8 am to 7 pm daily

If you hadn’t already gathered by now, Cais do Sodré is the go-to district for work cafes in Lisbon, and Comobå is no exception.

This speciality coffee shop serves up a mean bica, cappuccino, matcha, and more, so if caffeine is a big requirement for your work day, then you’ll love Comobå.

All their coffee is Fair Trade and organic and they also have some unique and tasty plant-based housemade milk alternatives, including almond, coconut, and rice.

And if you need a bite to eat, their menu is equally impressive!

Think hearty breakfast burritos, nourishing salad bowls, and chai pancakes, and you’re on the right lines.

As expected from somewhere with such an amazing menu, Comobå is very popular with workers.

Combine this with fast Wi-Fi and super-friendly staff, and it’s not hard to see why the coffee shop is always packed.

Be sure to arrive early in the day to grab a good spot, especially as a lot of the tables are low and therefore, difficult to work at.

Luckily, there are loads of outlets for you to plug into and work well into the afternoon!

4. Copenhagen Coffee Lab

counter-inside-copenhagen-coffee-lab-and-bakery

Address: Multiple locations

Opening hours: 8 am to 6 pm daily

Copenhagen Coffee Lab is yet another fantastic spot that I love working in.

This small coffee chain has locations all across Europe, including Hamburg, Cannes, and (yep, you guessed it!) Copenhagen.

In Lisbon, you’ll find them in several locations across the city (Culturgest, Baixa, Santa Clara, Alcântara, Alfama, Sao Paolo, Estrela, and Praca Das Flores).

No matter where you’re based in Lisbon, Copenhagen has your back!

This coffee lab is super laptop-friendly, with fast Wi-Fi, plenty of outlets, and a no-fuss guilt-free working policy.

As such, you’ll always find yourself working in good company here.

Their locations vary in terms of size but it’s usually pretty easy to grab a good spot so I wouldn’t worry about arriving later in the day!

Be warned though: their cafes tend to be quite dark and moody, with harsh lighting, so if you like lots of natural light, Copenhagen is not the place for you.

5. Boutik Lisboa

Address: R. de São Bento 106D, 1200-820 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 21 396 0773

Opening hours: 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm Sunday

For relaxed ocean vibes, head to Boutik Lisboa, a café, surf shack, and lifestyle hub situated in São Bento.

This isn’t the most obvious coworking cafe in Lisbon but it’s my favourite cafe in the city so I couldn’t help but include it!

Although there won’t be loads of people working here, the Wi-Fi is strong and the lovely team here welcome laptops.

And because it’s a bit of a hidden gem, there will always be a space waiting for you!

They serve a variety of healthy homemade food here, including incredible brunch dishes, poké bowls, and my favourite acai bowls in Lisbon!

Seriously, everything here is so tasty.

It’s all super wallet-friendly too so if you’re looking for a budget work cafe in Lisbon, Boutik’s got your back.

Alongside great food, they have an equally great drink menu, including coffee, fresh juices, and smoothies.

Fancy a break from your laptop?

Then be sure to explore their inspiring store which sells everything from handcrafted local goods to ethical international brands.

6. Dear Breakfast

Address: Multiple locations

Opening hours: 9 am to 5 pm daily

Dear Breakfast is another place that’s not an obvious choice for the ‘best cafes to work in Lisbon’.

Better known for being an iconic Instagrammable brunch spot, Dear Breakfast is a bit of a local celebrity.

As such, it’s always busy, so it’s worth booking in advance for this one.

(This isn’t somewhere you can pop in last minute with your laptop but a bit of advance planning is worth it to indulge in their amazing food!)

Their egg-centric menu is full of delights like eggs royale, croque madame, and rancheros, as well as a few pancakes, burgers, and bowls.

Whatever you order, it’ll go down a treat alongside their exquisite coffee and juices!

Most importantly, Dear Breakfast is laptop-friendly and has fast Wi-Fi so you won’t feel guilty about pulling your laptop out.

However, because it’s so popular this isn’t somewhere you can stay the whole day so it’s worth managing your expectations.

They have locations in Chiado, Alfama, and Bica, so locate the nearest Dear Breakfast to you and book in!

7. Hello, Kristof

people-working-inside-hello-kristof-cafe-in-daytime

Address: R. do Poço dos Negros 103, 1200-337 Lisboa

Opening hours: 9 am to 4 pm daily

Hello, Kristof is one of my all-time favourite cafes in Lisbon, so it’s a huge plus that they’re also laptop-friendly!

This creative, inspiring space is the brainchild of Charlie and Malaylack who found a home in Portugal and wanted to create a warm place where they could welcome people from all walks of life.

Here they serve good vibes in abundance, as well as delicious brunch dishes and homemade pastries.

However, while their food is worth shouting about, it’s their speciality coffee that truly steals the show.

(Order their matcha latte and thank me later!)

Charlie and Malaylack warmly welcome laptops but it’s worth noting that their space is small so you may not get a table straight away.

This is a place that’s worth waiting around for, though!

If you need a midday pick-me-up to get your creative juices flowing, then look no further than their exciting range of magazines.

Reducing your screen time is super important and Hello, Kristof recognises this.

So while they provide a great place to work, they also encourage you to switch off with their unique selection of travel, food, art, and lifestyle magazines.

8. Curva

people-inside-curva-cafe-best-cafes-to-work-in-lisbon

Address: R. Damasceno Monteiro 108D, 1170-113 Lisboa

Opening hours: 10 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday, 10 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday

Spacious and laptop-friendly, Curva is easily one of the best cafes to work in Lisbon.

However, calling Curva a ‘cafe’ would be doing it a disservice!

This beautiful lifestyle destination houses a gallery, bar, and shop, as well as serving tasty coffee and small plates.

It should come as no surprise then that this multi-hyphenated one-stop-shop should also double as your next workplace.

With loads of space, fast Wi-Fi, and friendly staff on hand, Curva is a fantastic place to work in Lisbon.

Their lengthy menu is sure to keep you satiated too; it includes salad bowls, acai bowls, big brunch plates, toasts, and more.

Alternatively, if you just fancy a light pastry to keep you going, they’ve got plenty of those too.

And once 5 pm rolls around, you’re in the perfect place to wind down for the evening.

Take your pick from one of Curva’s delicious wines and unwind in style!

9. Simpli Coffee

Address: R. Braamcamp 64, 1250-096 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 960 184 117

Opening hours: 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Saturday

Choosing Simpli Coffee as your coworking cafe in Lisbon couldn’t be a simpler decision.

Even if you’re a bit of a coffee snob, their Arabica coffee will likely impress.

They work directly with farmers from all corners of the globe to source rare, organic coffee that’s as tasty as it is sustainable.

As well as great coffee, their superb pastry chefs knock up fresh cakes and sourdough daily.

And on top of this, you also have over 20 brunch dishes to choose from!

Toast and burgers dominate the menu, with standout dishes being the Simpli French toast and the pastrami sandwich.

With strong Wi-Fi and even stronger coffee, it’s no surprise that Simpli Coffee is one of the best cafes to work in Lisbon.

Come for the coffee, and stay for the friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

10. Fabrica Coffee Roasters

tables-and-counter-inside-fabrica-coffee-roasters

Address: Multiple locations

Opening hours: 9 am to 5 pm daily

If you’re at all familiar with Lisbon, Porto, or Cascais, Fabrica Coffee Roasters is likely somewhere that needs no introduction.

Coffee’s the name and the game at Fabrica Coffee Roasters, so it’s no surprise that their coffee is some of the best in the business.

Expect rich and creamy gourmet coffee that will leave you wanting more!

Food takes a backseat at Fabrica but that doesn’t mean it disappoints.

Perfect for a quick bite to eat, rather than a filling meal, they serve sandwiches, toast, and sweet treats.

Their cafes are surprisingly spacious and with five locations to choose from in Lisbon, you’ll easily find a seat somewhere.

They offer fast Wi-Fi and a laptop-friendly work environment with both indoor and outdoor seating if the sun is calling your name.

Pull up a seat at Fabrica and get ready to work!

11. Wish Slow Coffee House

people-working-inside-wish-slow-coffee-house

Address: Rua Rodrigues de Faria 103, Espaço G, 02A, 1300-501 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 21 393 3036

Opening hours: 10 am to 7 pm daily

LxFactory isn’t the most obvious place to find one of the best cafes to work in Lisbon.

But amid more than 50 rooftop bars, buzzing eateries, and arty retailers, you’ll find Wish Slow Coffee House.

Slowing things down in what is a vibrant and bustling art centre, this coffee shop warmly welcomes laptops.

The airy, light-filled, and beachy space is an inspiring place to work, and the lovely team behind Wish encourage people to work and network so you’ll feel zero guilt here!

Serving speciality coffee, breakfast, brunch, pastries, and other tasty food, they’ve got enough fuel to keep you going for hours.

Menu highlights include filled croissants, yummy waffles, and pancakes galore.

And with an enviable coffee menu to make your way through, you could return time and time again just to try out all their options.

Once you’re ready to pack your laptop up for the day, you’re in the perfect place for a post-work tipple!

Head to one of LxFactory’s many restaurants and bars to end your day on a high.

12. Seagull Method

tables-and-artwork-inside-seagull-method-cafe

Address: R. da Palmeira 23, 1200-311 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 963 842 543

Opening hours: 9 am to 6 pm daily

Last but by no means least, we have Seagull Method Cafe, a sister site of the popular Heim Cafe.

This stunning cafe is sure to impress even the most avid of brunch-goers.

So if brunch is the way to your heart, you know where to head!

With a whopping 16 dishes to choose from, you’ll probably spend more time browsing their menu than actually getting any work done.

But once you’ve landed on your meal of choice, you can get your head down in the smugness that comes with knowing you’ve got a delicious brunch coming your way.

If you only order one thing, let it be the crispy sweet potato hash browns with parmesan and avocado – they’re a game-changer!

I’d also recommend the ‘fritters and smashed’ or the ‘salty pancakes’ as the next-best options.

The cafe is small and highly popular so you’ll have to arrive early to snag a spot.

But once you’re settled, the fast Wi-Fi and beautiful surroundings are sure to inspire you!

So that concludes my round-up of all the best cafes to work in Lisbon!

Whether you’re just passing through the city or are setting up base here for a while, there’s sure to be a work cafe in Lisbon that you fall in love with.

My go-to quickly became Honest Greens, mainly for ease of convenience, but you’ll find one that suits your work style!

Shortlist your favourites from this list and spend a few days working your way around them.
