So you might have shopped at The Bullring or Grand Central, Birmingham’s brand new shopping mall, but have you ever considered going off the beaten path? Not only are there so many places to visit in Birmingham, but the city also has a whole host of quirky, independent markets and arcades that are just waiting to be explored.
Forget the Brummie stereotypes and find some beauty in this pretty city by following this guide to some of Birmingham’s coolest independent shopping areas.
The Custard Factory
Let’s start with my personal favourite shopping area in the city! Gaz and I recently visited Birmingham to go to a couple of gigs in Digbeth (side note: The Pigeon Detectives and Declan McKenna are fantastic live) and when we did, we stumbled across The Custard Factory. Welcome to Birmingham’s coolest, most colourful and creative quarter! Here you will find everything from independent shops, cinema and street food, to a virtual reality arcade and crazy “ghetto golf”. You could easily spend a whole day having fun in just this tiny little complex…
So have you ever visited Birmingham? Did you stick to the Bull Ring or did you venture off the beaten path to find some of these hidden gems? Did I miss anywhere off my list? Let me know in the comments below!
