Brunches Lisbon: 27 Best Places to Go for Brunch in Lisbon [2024]

by

Lisbon is a brunch lover’s paradise.

I recently lived in the city for five weeks and during my time, I tried as many brunches as I possibly could.

And even then, I couldn’t try them all because there are just so many amazing brunches in Lisbon!

Whether you’re looking for an Instagrammable brunch, a gorgeous rooftop brunch, or a plant-based brunch, this wonderful little city has you covered.

Luckily for you, I’ve rounded up all the best brunches in Lisbon in one place to save you the trouble of finding the best one for you.

So from avocado toast and acai bowls to burgers and breakfast burritos, here are the 27 best places to go for brunch in Lisbon!

1. Fauna & Flora

breakfast-plates-at-fauna-and-flora-brunches-lisbon

Address: Multiple locations

Open from: 9 am

An icon on the Lisbon brunch scene, Fauna & Flora deserves all its hype and then some!

On their wide-ranging menu, you’ll find everything from smoothie bowls and toasts to pancakes and burgers.

If you’re looking for something light and refreshing, I’d recommend one of their granola and smoothie bowls.

They’re super tasty and some of my favourites in the city!

They also have some fantastic salads, dips and chips, their iconic ‘nests’, and much more.

And if you fancy treating yourself, I highly recommend their brunch cocktails!

Fauna & Flora are dotted around a few locations in the city so they’re a great option no matter where you’re based.

2. Dear Breakfast

brunch-plates-and-smoothies-at-dear-breakfast

Address: Multiple locations

Open from: 9 am

Just like Fauna & Flora, Dear Breakfast is another iconic Instagrammable brunch spot with locations in Chiado, Alfama, and Bica.

Their menu is a little more limited but that doesn’t mean it’s any less amazing!

On it, you’ll find egg-centric dishes ranging from Turkish eggs and rancheros to omelettes and eggs Benedict.

They also have more classic brunch dishes like avocado toast, pancakes, and a Dear Breakfast twist on the British fry-up.

My favourite thing here is the acai bowl but I also have a soft spot for the green burger.

This is one of the most egg-cellent brunches in Lisbon (sorry, I had to!) so visit here and thank me later.

They’re always busy, so it’s worth booking in advance for this one.

3. Neighbourhood Cafe

avocado-toast-and-coffee-at-neighbourhood-cafe

Address: Largo do Conde Barão 25, 1200-163 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 21 406 8809

Open from: 8:30 am

Best known for its incredible breakfast burritos, Neighbourhood Cafe is a cosy Aussie-owned brunch spot.

And we all know that Aussies do brunch best, right?!

If you order anything here, let it be one of their famous breakfast burritos.

My favourite is the vegan one but they also have veggie, meaty, and kimchi options.

Alternatively, other menu highlights are the jalapeno avocado on toast, carnitas benedict, and their pumpkin loaf special.

Whether you have a sweet or savoury tooth, Neighbourhood never fails to impress.

They don’t take reservations so rock up and pull up a seat!

4. Zenith Brunch & Cocktails

Address: R. do Telhal 4A, 1150-346 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 21 152 7583

Open from: 8 am

Next up, we have the aptly-named Zenith Brunch & Cocktails, one of my favourite places to go for a vegan breakfast in Lisbon.

This popular all-day brunch spot does cocktails really well so if you fancy a brunch in Lisbon with a drink, they’ve got your back.

(Order the mimosa party jug and thank me later!)

Their menu is huge too, and half of it is vegan, making it great for fussy eaters or groups with dietary restrictions.

From acai bowls, banana bread, and pancakes to shakshuka, tacos, and toast, they have countless sweet and savoury dishes to try.

Some of my favourites are the Oreo French toast, the eggs Zenith, and the jackfruit tacos.

Zenith is open from 8 am daily giving you loads of time to try out their brunch!

5. Break Sé

pancakes-salad-and-coffee-at-break-sé

Address: R. da Saudade 2A, 1100-583 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 21 581 2251

Open from: 9 am

Take a break and slow it down at Break Sé, a vibrant but relaxed brunch spot near Castelo de São Jorge.

Here they have a lovely little outdoor area where you can enjoy your brunch while soaking up the sunshine and the sights and sounds of the city!

As for the food, their menu is globally inspired with popular brunch items being the ‘English’, ‘Oslo’, ‘Marsella’, and ‘Barcelona’.

If you want to do it as the locals do then go for the ‘Lisboa’ (toast with garlic oil, codfish, roasted pepper, and salad).

However, if you have more of a sweet tooth, then try out the pancakes or an acai bowl.

Alternatively, they also have more lunch-y dishes, including salads, sandwiches, burgers, tapas, and bowls – all of which are super tasty!

6. Comobå

avocado-toast-and-peanut-butter-toast-at-comobå

Address: Rua da Boavista 90, 1200-085 Lisboa

Open from: 8 am

Comobå is one of the best cafes to work in Lisbon so if you’re looking to brunch and work then listen up!

This speciality coffee shop is known for its brilliant Fair Trade and organic coffee.

If you’re a big coffee lover, they have some unique and tasty plant-based housemade milk alternatives, including almond, coconut, and rice.

But don’t worry because their brunch menu is just as impressive!

Think filling breakfast burritos, tasty galettes, and hearty salad bowls, and you’re on the right lines.

My favourite dish here would have to be their chai pancakes which come with apple, chai vegan butter, whipped vegan cream, and maple syrup.

Yum!

7. Manjerica

breakfast-at-manjerica-cafe-brunches-lisbon

Address: Rua João das Regras, Praça da Figueira 5-A, 1100-293 Lisboa

Open from: 9 am Sunday to Friday

Manjerica is one of my favourite vegan restaurants in Lisbon and it also just so happens to serve one of my favourite brunches in Lisbon too.

This gorgeous and relaxed all-veggie-vegan eatery has a super long menu filled with so much plant-based goodness.

We’re talking pancakes, toasts, risotto, burgers, wraps, and more!

I’ve visited here a few times and my favourite menu items would have to be the guacamole wrap with roasted tofu sticks, and the scrambled tofu with mushrooms and stick toast.

(If you couldn’t tell, they do tofu really well here.)

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a little sweeter, the pumpkin and oats pancake never fails to impress.

8. The Mill

breakfast-plates-and-smoothies-at-the-mill

Address: R. do Poço dos Negros 1, 1200-335 Lisboa

Open from: 8 am

The Mill is a small and super friendly Australian-Portuguese café known for its speciality coffee and all-day brunch.

Combining the Australian art of brunch with a Portuguese-inspired menu, The Mill serves vibrant and fun dishes.

If you want to do it as the Aussies do, then go for the Brissie (two corn fritters served with smashed avocado, bacon, and roasted cherry tomatoes).

Or if you want to keep it local, try out the Lisboeta toastie, filled with grilled chourico, roasted peppers, and cheese from the Azores.

Other menu highlights are the banana bread, smoked salmon bagel, and blueberry pancakes.

Pair your dish with a locally-sourced coffee and enjoy!

9. Heim Cafe

Address: R. Santos-O-Velho 2 e 4, 1200-109 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 935 775 833

Heim Cafe describes itself as ‘the finest brunch cafe in Lisbon’ and I’m not here to argue with them.

Known for serving one of the best brunches in Lisbon, this lovely little cafe has built up a cult following thanks to its delicious food.

If you want the true Heim experience, then go for the €16.50 brunch which will blow your mind.

It comes with fresh orange juice, homemade granola, churros French toast, and green scrambled eggs, avocado, and feta cheese on toast.

Alternatively, other fan favourites are the mushroom benedict and the bacon panwiches which are just as moreish as they sound.

Heim is very popular and they only accept walk-ins so you may have to wait to grab a seat but once you get one it’s more than worth it!

However, if they’re full, you can try out Seagull Method Cafe, their stunning sister site, instead.

10. Tiffin Café

breakfast-plates-and-smoothie-at-tiffin-cafe

Address: R. do Conde 32, 1200-637 Lisboa

Phone number: +35 1926 744 051

Open from: 7:30 am Monday to Friday

Tiffin Café is a lovely vegetarian restaurant serving breakfast from 7:30 am to noon Monday to Friday.

My favourite item of theirs is the Tiffin Baked Beans which comprises beans, homemade tomato sauce, poached eggs, and sourdough from Gleba Bakery.

(But maybe that’s just the Brit in me!)

Alternatively, if you’re a big avocado person, you’ll love the Avocado Tartine on sourdough.

They also have a great €12 brunch deal which gets you a couple of breakfast items and a couple of drinks.

Think homemade granola, vegan banana bread, freshly-pressed juice, and a hot drink.

For one of the best brunches in Lisbon, you can’t go wrong with Tiffin Café.

11. Seventh Brunch

Address: Calçada do Combro 147, 1200-452 Lisboa

Phone number: +351 913 520 624

Open from: 8 am

Seventh Brunch is a popular brunch spot founded by Eduardo Volpato, an Italian-Brazilian businessman and philanthropist, born in southern Brazil.

The friendly team behind the restaurant puts a whole lot of love into every single dish, whether it’s chorizo and scrambled eggs on toast or lemon curd, apple jam, and cinnamon pancakes.

They have four main brunch deals which I’d recommend getting.

Choose from American, English, Lisbon, and Vegan, all of which get you a few small brunch dishes and a hot drink of your choice.

For the true local experience, I’d recommend going for the Lisbon, though I do also love the Vegan.

With a big vision to expand, you should visit Seventh Brunch before it really blows up!

12. Manifest

breakfast-plates-at-manifest-cafe-brunches-lisbon

Address: Rua da Sociedade Farmacêutica 31, 1150-103 Lisboa

Open from: 8 am

Manifest serves one of the most popular brunches in Lisbon.

From Turkish eggs to Ukrainian cheesecakes to a big vegan brunch, all their dishes are hearty and filling, and will fuel you for a big day of exploring.

My recommendation would be the huge continental or oriental breakfast spreads as they let you try a bit of everything.

(Plus, they look great in an Instagram pic!)

The Belgian waffles also deserve a special shoutout – they’re just as tasty as they look.

Sadly, Manifest doesn’t take reservations so get on down here early to guarantee yourself a spot.

13. Javá Rooftop

Phone number: +251 935 945 545

Open from: Noon Monday to Thursday, 10 am Friday to Sunday

If you’re looking for brunch with a view then visit Javá, my favourite rooftop bar in Lisbon.

I’ve eaten here countless times and every time, I’m impressed by the tasty food, impeccable service, and high-energy vibes.

Menu highlights are the fried chicken waffles, shakshuka, and mac and cheese, but truly, nothing will disappoint.

Your brunch will be soundtracked by a feel-good summery playlist that will make you want to order a mimosa and get up and dance.

For amazing vibes and one of the best brunches in Lisbon, get yourself down (or more appropriately, up) to Javá Rooftop.

You’re not going to want to stop taking photos up here, I promise!

14. Café Janis

brunch-plates-at-café-janis-brunches-lisbon

Address: R. Moeda 1A, 1200-109 Lisboa

Open from: 8 am

Picturesquely perched on the corner of an iconic Cais do Sodré street, Café Janis is a lively eatery that attracts locals and tourists alike.

Their all-day menu features unique and inspiring breakfast dishes, ranging from a vegan salad bowl to an Earl Grey chocolate waffle to a Mediterranean breakfast.

The avocado toast is also a firm favourite of mine, as is the acai bowl.

However, be warned that Café Janis is small and popular, so get there early to secure a spot.

Later at night, the cafe transforms into a vibey bar serving delicious cocktails, so I’d also recommend sticking around after sunset to try them too!

15. Hello, Kristof

avocado-and-cucumber-toast-at-hello-kristof

Address: R. do Poço dos Negros 103, 1200-337 Lisboa

Open from: 9 am

Hello, Kristof is one of my all-time favourite cafes, so it’s a huge plus that they also serve one of the best brunches in Lisbon.

This creative, inspiring space is the brainchild of Charlie and Malaylack who found a home in Portugal and wanted to create a warm place where they could welcome people from all walks of life.

Here you’ll find countless independent magazines (ranging from travel to food to art) that you can flick through while you wait for your brunch.

The best dish I’ve had here is the smashed avocado toast with lemon, ricotta, cucumber, crispy onions, chilli flakes, chives, seeds, salad, and tomatoes.

However, while their food is worth shouting about, it’s their speciality coffee that truly steals the show.

Order the matcha latte and thank me later!

16. Nicolau

Address: R. de São Nicolau 17, 1100-547 Lisboa

Phone number: +251 21 886 0312

Open from: 8:30 am

With locations all across the country, I Love Nicolau is a Portuguese brunch institution.

Their ever-changing seasonal menu features delicious salads, pancakes, burgers, toasts, acai bowls, and much more.

And the best part is that none of it breaks the bank either!

For example, you can get Nutella pancakes for €5.20, French toast for €6, or shakshuka for €7.50.

However, my favourite option here is the €17 vegan brunch which comes with orange juice, coffee or tea, oat and banana pancakes, and white bean hummus toast with spinach and sauteed mushrooms.

The perfect mix of sweet and savoury!

If there’s no space at Nicolau, head to one of their sister sites (Amélia, Basilio, and Olivia) to enjoy the same delicious food.

17. JAC Brunch & Concept Store

The lovely people behind JAC Brunch & Concept Store also give you the option to go bottomless on your brunch.

In this gorgeous setting and with a background of chilled indie music, you can indulge in equally gorgeous dishes.

Think French toast, breakfast burgers, Benedict waffles, and pretty vegan pancakes – all of which are super tasty.

This lovely little cafe is hidden away in the heart of Alfama and has outdoor cobblestone seating where you can enjoy your brunch in the sunshine.

On their menu, you’ll find all kinds of goodness ranging from freshly baked pastries to acai and yoghurt bowls to huge cooked brunch plates.

For a filling meal, go for the Brunchata.

Open from: 9 am

For relaxed ocean vibes, head to Boutik Lisboa, a café, surf shack, and lifestyle hub situated in São Bento.

They serve a variety of healthy homemade breakfast dishes here, including my all-time favourite acai bowls in Lisbon.

Naturally, if I had to recommend anything here, it would be a smoothie bowl.

The granola in their acai bowl is some of the tastiest I’ve ever had, and the portion sizes were amazing too!

However, if you’re not a smoothie bowl kinda person don’t worry because the rest of their food is equally tasty.

They’ve got poké bowls, pancakes, bagels, toast, burritos, and more!

21. Augusto

Address: R. de Santa M.nha 26, 1100-491 Lisboa

Augusto has its aesthetics on point with its tile walls, pink plates, greenery, and soft sumptuous furnishings.

At this lovely little cafe, they serve tasty coffee, spectacular drinks, and some impressive brunch dishes.

Their philosophy is “Better food, better mood” and they certainly fulfil their promise with their brunch menu.

I love their vegan toast but I also can’t get enough of the Portuguesinha salad bowl.

And when washed down with a drink or two (they love a boozy brunch here at Augusto!), they taste even better.

Top tip: don’t leave without trying their special pastéis de nata ice cream – it’s a game-changer!

They don’t take reservations here so just walk in and enjoy your brunch.

22. Frutaria Café

Here, they prioritise homemade, fresh food, with plenty of vegan options for plant-based eaters.

(Think healthy toasts, pancakes, and bowls, and you’re on the right lines.)

love acai so one of my favourite dishes here is the Brazilian bowl.

But if you’re looking for something more substantial don’t worry because they’ve got you covered here too.

From shakshuka to a chicken burger, they serve plenty of hearty, moreish dishes that suit all dietary requirements.

23. Instant Crunch

From the second you walk through the door, you’re going to have an instant crush on Instant Crunch.

This laidback restaurant has a gorgeous garden where you can enjoy a brilliant brunch or tasty tapas.

They wanted to make their restaurant feel like a home away from home and that’s exactly what they’ve done through their warm environment and delicious home cooking.

Their brunch menu is short but sweet with six dishes for you to choose from.

My favourite is the Inspiraçao Vegan but if you want to treat yourself, order the Twins Twist Surprise for two.

It’s an incredible sharing platter made up of feta, focaccia, avocado-smoked salmon waffles, poached eggs, burrata salad with bacon, chocolate fondue with fresh fruits, mini waffles and crêpes, and more!

For an alternative, heartier take on brunch, head over to Kaffeehaus.

This cosy Viennese cafe takes inspiration from the unique atmosphere of Vienna’s cafe culture, serving Austrian specialities like schnitzel, weiner, and apfelstrudel.

You won’t find any avo toast or acai bowls here, folks!

Instead, you’ll be able to indulge in unique dishes like their ‘peter-wrap’ and ‘wir sind kaiser brunch’.

The former is a wheat wrap with scrambled eggs, crispy Austrian speck, arugula, roasted tomatoes, spiced potato wedges, and yoghurt sauce.

While the latter is a plate of frankfurter sausage, Vienna-style stew sauce, scrambled eggs bread, homemade vianinha, and butter.

Kaffehaus receives non-stop rave reviews so if Austrian cuisine is up your street, you’ll love it!

The Therapist believes that food is therapy, and that’s exactly why they serve nothing but natural, healthy, and invigorating dishes.

Their menu is filled with so much goodness that you won’t know where to start but if I had to recommend just one thing, it would be their pancakes.

Their vegan and gluten-free pancakes with cocoa and hazelnut spread, sliced banana, and gluten-free granola are a game-changer!

I also love the antioxidant smoothie bowl, the golden tofu and raw salad, and the avocado and organic egg bun.

Find The Therapist and all their yummy food in the amazing LX Factory or at their second location in Alvalade.

27. Garden Balthazar Caffe

If I could only recommend one thing, it would be the €27.50 vegan brunch to share – it’s incredible!

So that concludes my round-up of the 27 best brunches in Lisbon.
