by

If you haven’t already stayed in a shepherds hut before then you’re in for an absolute treat because they’re a delight!

And luckily for you, Norfolk is home to some of the most beautiful shepherds huts in all of the UK, and I’ve rounded them all up for you.

There are huts by the beach, huts in the forest, and even huts by lakes! And some even come complete with their own hot tub.

So if you’re ready to discover which of these Norfolk shepherds huts you want to book a stay at, read on…

1. Ketteringham Hall Huts

large-grey-shepherds-hut-in-forest-at-ketteringham-hall-glamping-norfolk

Price per night: From £110 for 2 people

Location: Ketteringham, Wymondham, Norfolk

Set amid thirty-six acres of beautiful grounds at the majestic Ketteringham Hall, nature is at its finest at Ketteringham Hall Huts.

Both of the two huts were beautifully handcrafted in Norfolk to the high standard you see today.

Inside the spacious yet cosy huts, you’ll find a king-sized bed, wood-burning stove and ensuite bathroom, plus a small kitchenette.

However, if you don’t fancy knocking up breakfast yourself, take the short walk to The Orangery Tearoom which serves delicious breakfasts, lunches, and cream teas.

What guests say: “Such a beautiful and tranquil spot! When walking around the grounds, it was great to explore the private areas and you feel that you are the only people about. The hut had all the amenities that we needed and breakfast items were provided by the hosts. The decor of the huts is absolutely amazing and you can tell how much effort the hosts had gone to.”

2. Top Farm Shepherds Hut

Not only that but outside there’s a covered outdoor kitchen and bar. Perfect for drinking the night away!

There’s a bottle of prosecco awaiting your arrival after all.

What guests say: “Super clean, stylish and great use of space. The BBQ was great for a warm evening whilst watching the sun go down and the real log burner was my favourite for a cosy evening. Small touches including Prosecco, quality flip flops and nice shower gels, shampoos etc are a real treat! Books, board games and DVDs provided for fun too!”

It’s ridiculously cosy and romantic, with lots of snuggly soft furnishings, a comfortable double bed, and a wood-burning stove.

The romance continues outside of the hut too as old-fashioned roses climb along the wall behind the hut.

Similarly, you’ll find a flower garden is just over the beech hedge.

What guests say: “Idyllic little place, had everything we needed, we had fabulous weather and felt as though we were in the French countryside. The Orchard is completely private, enclosed and safe for our labrador to roam around freely.”

The hut is great for all-year-round stays too with its wood burner, heated towel rail and insulation.

The craftsman’s built Wayfarers’ Wood Shepherds Hut is a romantic little bolthole for two.

Set in a private woodland glade, you’ll feel a million miles away from normal life here.

The hut is off-grid but don’t worry because it doesn’t lack home comforts.

The hut benefits from solar-powered lighting, a gas hob, and a toasty wood-burning stove, and to top it all off, your stay also includes a delicious welcome breakfast basket full of goodies like croissants, cereal, juice and porridge.

Price per night: From £60 for 2 people

Location: Tunstead, nr Wroxham

Tunstead Shepherds Hut is one of the cutest shepherds huts in Norfolk, and the best bit is that it’ll only set you back £30 a night each!

Both its interior and surroundings are just as beautiful as each other.

So much so that you won’t know where you want to spend the majority of your time.

The inside is oh-so-cosy and inviting, and outside you’ll find a picnic table, and a separate table and chairs where you can sit back and watch the world go by.

What guests say: “This was an amazing dream weekend which we would have loved never to end. The hut is adorable and has all the basics needed for a comfortable stay. The wood burner helped us through the cold nights and made it all very cosy.”

From a luxury BBQ hamper to a celebration package of a bouquet, chocolates and prosecco, there are plenty of options to choose from.

However, my favourite thing about this shepherds hut is the miles of long hikes, bike rides, fishing, birdwatching, and sailing that are all on your doorstep.

Time to get exploring!

What guests say: “We absolutely loved our stay here! We had high expectations and all were met and more! Our hut was sparkling clean on arrival and was such a lovely, warm and cosy place to stay. Well, if the modern heated toilet and shower block wasn’t separate from the hut, that is!

The hut is well-equipped with a traditional handcrafted bed with a luxury memory foam mattress guaranteed to give you a great night’s sleep.

On top of this, there’s also a cast iron wood burner to keep you toasty, tea and coffee making facilities, electrical sockets, lighting, and a fridge with a freezer compartment.

Price per night: From £120 for 6 people

Set on the same idyllic site as Goosewing Hut, Jacob’s Folly is one of the best Norfolk shepherds huts for larger groups of people.

Shepherds huts are typically more romantic, intimate accommodation for couples but this hut sleeps up to six adults across three double beds!

While it’s slightly more spacious, it still retains Goosewing’s cosy charm and benefits from the same facilities.

What guests say: “It was a beautiful place – especially in amongst the trees in Autumn. We had a wonderful time.”

Luxury’s the name and luxury’s the game at Charlotte-Rose Shepherds Hut.

To make your stay even more special, you’ll be provided with a continental breakfast basket including croissants and homemade jams.

Deee-licious!

However, if that doesn’t cut it for you, you can also pay extra for a bottle of fizz on ice, flowers, or local produce for a full English breakfast.

I mean, you’re on holiday, aren’t you? I say go for it!

What guests say: “Every little detail has been thought about – lovely thick towels, toiletries, croissants for the morning, and even a selection of different teas! The hot tub is gorgeous and so relaxing. The bed is super comfy and the hut has literally everything you need.”

exterior-of-briars-hut-norfolk-shepherds-huts

The luxurious hand-built Briars Hut has well-earned its place on this list of the best Norfolk shepherds huts.

Sitting in its own private grassy garden with sun loungers, a picnic table and BBQ, the hut not only benefits from beautiful surroundings but a well-equipped interior too.

We’re talking a double bed, two leather armchairs, Smart TV, Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchenette, a wood-burner, and an en-suite bathroom.

It’s safe to say that no matter rain or shine you’ll be seriously comfortable here!

And if you don’t want to have the place all to yourselves, you can invite a couple of friends along to sleep in the nearby Briars Bell Tent.

What guests say: “Such a beautiful hut. Not only is the interior and exterior picturesque, Alison thought of so many little details that made the stay even more relaxing! Norfolk is certainly in no shortage of beautiful shepherds huts.

Close to nature, but within striking distance of the luxury of Godwick Hall, The Herdwick Hideaway is one of the most luxurious of the lot.

With a selection of lovely design features, such as oak wooden floors, butler sinks, and narrowboat wood burners, it definitely looks the part.

To make your stay extra special, order a continental breakfast or bacon buttie straight to your door.

Who can say no to waking up to that?

What guests say: “Thoughtfully decorated, clean throughout and in such a beautiful setting. We really enjoyed the breakfast basket as well as the stargazing package! Spent two evenings toasting marshmallows around the fire pit and looking up at the stars – amazing! The double hammock was fun to chill in too.”

18. Willowfen Retreat Shepherds Hut

luxury-shepherds-hut-in-field-in-daytime

Price per night: From £100 for 2 people

Willowfen Retreat Shepherds Hut is just the definition of cute, right?

And the best bit is that because it sits in its own fenced garden you can even bring your dog along with you too!

Walk down the private gravel track and through the front door, and you’ll be greeted by a complimentary welcome basket of milk, bread, butter, jam, free-range eggs, and more, ready to help settle you in.

Aside from the free goodies, you’ll also be struck by just how ridiculously modern and luxurious the hut is.

19. Wispy Meadows Shepherds Hut

golden-orfe-shepherds-hut-at-wispy-meadows-luxury-holidays

Price per night: From £160 for 2 people

Location: Saham Toney, nr Swaffham

I think Wispy Meadows Shepherds Hut wins the award for the best surroundings of any of these Norfolk shepherds huts!

Situated on the edge of a beautiful lake, there are definitely worse views to wake up to.

Enjoy breakfast on the decking alfresco before quickly jumping into your private hot tub where you can whittle away the hours.

When you eventually manage to drag yourself inside, you’ll find that the hut is well-equipped with a king-size bed, gas central heating, and a kitchenette including a gas hob and electric oven.

It’s time to cook up a storm!

What guests say: “A perfect hideaway in a beautiful setting overlooking a fishing lake. The traditional yet modern shepherds hut has been carefully finished to provide everything you need. The large seating area on the deck was even better than expected with the fire pit lit. The enormous hot tub was the icing on the cake!”

20. Luxury Shepherds Hut

large-luxury-navy-shepherds-hut-in-field-with-woodfired-hot-tub-glamping-norfolk

Price per night: From £115 for 2 people

Location: Winterton-on-Sea, Norfolk

With the Norfolk Broads and several beaches just a stone’s throw away, this luxury shepherds hut is a great place to base yourself if you want to explore the best of Norfolk.

However, its location is not the shepherds hut’s only merit.

Easily my favourite thing about the hut is the log-burning hot tub.

Inside you’ll find more luxuries, such as a kingsize bed with sheep’s wool mattress, long burning stove, coffee machine, Bluetooth speakers and more.

What guests say: “Alex’s shepherds hut has been finished to an excellent standard and was clean and extremely comfortable. The extra touches like the gorgeous hand wash (I’ve already placed my own order for some) and the “mucky towel” just show how much thought has gone into making every stay extra special. The response time was very fast and nothing was too much trouble, and always with a smile.”

21. Starry Meadow Shepherds Huts

starry-meadow-shepherds-hut-in-field-in-daytime

Price per night: From £110 for 2 people

Location: Wood Street, nr Wroxham

The adult-only Starry Meadow supplies that much-needed R&R that you’ve been waiting for.

Home to a handful of different shepherds huts, there’s something to suit everyone.

And luckily for you, they all benefit from the same amazing amenities!

Each heated hut is light and airy, and comprises a double bed, TV, heater, and kitchen, with a separate private bathroom all to yourselves.

Inside the hut, you’ll also find a welcome basket of fresh bread, milk, free-range eggs, biscuits and cake galore.

And to make your stay that extra bit unique, they also have donkey experiences on-site.

Get up close and personal with their little herd of donkeys for some good ol’ animal therapy!

What guests say: “Amanda went above and beyond to make our stay amazing from fresh eggs with smiley faces to a lovely gift basket full of cookies, marshmallows and more, and not forgetting the lovely cold bottle of wine in our mini-fridge! Saying it’s in a field really is an understatement of its beauty. It’s surrounded by trees, fairy lights after dark and beautiful wildflowers.”

22. Barleywood Shepherds Hut

exterior-of-barleywood-shepherds-hut-norfolk-shepherds-huts

Price per night: From £100 for 2 people

Location: South Creake, nr Fakenham

Barleywood Shepherds Hut is easily one of my all-time favourite shepherds huts in Norfolk, purely for how luxurious it is!

There are so many things to love about this hut that I don’t even know where to start.

From the Canadian spa hot tub to the underfloor heated oak floors to the LCD TV with Netflix, luxury is at every turn.

And that’s not forgetting the sumptuous king-size bed and luxurious shower room!

On top of all that, you’ll also arrive to a tasty welcome hamper.

With prices starting from just £100 a night, this shepherds hut really is a steal.

What guests say: “The hut was very clean, modern, and beautifully done inside and out. For us, it was the extra touches like the big hamper full of goodies which even included doggy treats. The hot tub was wonderful with lovely views, the bathroom was spacious with toiletries provided, and the bed was very comfortable to the point it was hard to get out of in the morning.”

23. Eves Hill Glamping Hut

eves-hill-farm-glamping-hut-with-outdoor-seating-in-field-glamping-norfolk

Price per night: From £85 for 2 people

Location: Booton, Norwich, Norfolk

This glamping hut looks like it was lifted right out of the States rather than little old Norfolk.

Though maybe it’s just the chair out front that reminds me of American porches.

I’d just love to sit there for hours with a book in hand watching the sun go down.

Set on a traditional family farm of nearly 400-acres, you’re likely to see buzzards, skylarks, and owls flying overhead.

What guests say: “Great little site. In the middle of the clean and quiet farm with wonderful views and walks directly from the site. Made very welcome from owners and even had a look at newborn calves as well as given information on walks and local attractions.”

24. Shepherds Delight Hut

exterior-of-shepherds-delight-hut-norfolk-shepherds-huts

Price per night: From £90 for 2 people

Location: Tatterford, nr Fakenham

Last but absolutely by no means least on this list of the best Norfolk shepherds huts, we have Shepherds Delight Hut. And what a delight it is!

The hut has everything you could need for a comfortable stay, including a fold-down queen-size bed, a living area with a table and chairs, a wall-mounted flame effect fire, a TV, a kitchenette, and an en-suite bathroom. Phew, that’s a lot!

Outside you’ll find a veranda with seating and a BBQ so you can cook outside and dine alfresco to your heart’s content. It’s the best way to enjoy the amazing views!

What guests say: “What a delight it truly was. It had everything we needed, was so comfy and to sit on the veranda and watch the birds, or at the picnic table by the pond was idyllic. Nigel is the perfect host, offering a mix of helpfulness and care without intrusion.”
