Brighton is one of my favourite cities in the whole of the UK.

It’s colourful, it’s vibrant, and it’s just so much fun!

I’ve spent many a day whiling away hours by strolling through the Laines and tucking into fish and chips on the beach.

However, one of the best things about Brighton is that it has plenty of rooftop bars, which all have fab views!

So from Instagrammable rooftops to rooftops with live music and DJs, here are the 19 best rooftop bars in Brighton with amazing views!

1. No 32

No 32 is one of Brighton’s most relaxed and stylish restaurants.

Given its appearance on this list, it should also come as no surprise that it has a fantastic roof terrace, too.

It can be found in the iconic Laines, and it also doubles up as a bar and a club!

We love a multi-purpose venue.

It’s housed in what was once a theatre, which has been transformed into a light, elegant space that features a piano and regularly has live jazz music playing for its guests to enjoy.

It’s an incredibly classy space, but it’s far from being pretentious.

In fact, it’s the perfect spot for a casual drink in an upscale venue, so if that’s what you’re after, head over here.

Make sure to ask for a balcony seat so you can soak in the views! 

2. Ollie’s Jerk Shack & Cocktails

One of the best rooftop bars in Brighton, Ollie’s Jerk Shack & Cocktails is a cracking Caribbean restaurant located in Brighton’s historic South Laines.

It’s informal and modern and is great if you’re after a casual spot with incredible food and even better drinks.

Their menu features Caribbean staples such as Jamaican patties and jerk chicken, and it’s all delicious.

It’s a true hidden gem, and you’d be a fool to miss out on this one, especially as it has a fantastic outdoor space for you to chill out in. 

3. Patterns

If you’re looking for unbeatable views of the seafront and the Grand Pier, then the outdoor terrace at Patterns is one of the best rooftop bars in Brighton for you.

Patterns is a safe space for Brighton’s underground club culture, and it functions as a grassroots live music venue that has become a firm favourite over the years.

It’s super colourful and fun, which is exactly what I would expect of one of Brighton’s foremost bars!

They also have a club that’s spread across their ground floor and their basement, so be sure to check that out if you’re out for a late one.

They serve pizza by Cutting Shapes Pizza, and it’s proper delicious.

Try the Junglist pizza and thank me later – you’re going to want the recipe for this one! 

4. Grand Central

Grand Central is the place to be if you want real ale and pub grub.

Luckily for us, it also has a gorgeous rooftop terrace which you’re sure to love!

They have regular DJ nights that are always a hit with everyone who attends, so be sure to see if they’re hosting any of those any time soon.

It even has its own theatre, but the rooftop terrace is what really takes centre stage.

Located near Brighton station, this pub is perfectly situated to give you some cracking views of the sprawling city below.

Grab yourself a cold pint and some chilli miso cheesy chips and head up there on a summer’s day for the perfect afternoon with your pals. 

5. The Walrus

It’s elegant, it’s traditional, and it has an incredible roof garden.

Seriously, what more could you want?

As soon as you step inside it feels cosy and welcoming, which is exactly what we want a pub to feel like!

The rooftop garden is perfect for summer days when it’s just that little bit too warm to sit inside.

Their menu has all your gastropub classics, from curries and burgers to cottage pie and fish and chips.

Additionally, they also have plenty of veggie and vegan offerings, so there’s something for everyone here!

If you’re looking for a touch of class in Brighton, then this is what you’re after, I can assure you!

It’s located in the heart of the Laines, so you’ll be able to people watch from up high as the hustle and bustle of Brighton life carries on below you.

It’s long been one of Brighton’s most-loved pubs, so I can assure you that you’ll enjoy any time spent here.

Nibble on some beetroot and goats’ cheese arancini paired with hand-cut chips, and wash it down with a glass of chilled wine as you admire the sunset.

Club Revenge is a popular LGBTQ+ nightclub in Brighton, and they now have an equally popular rooftop bar!

Get ready to boogie, because there’s no better place for it than here.

The Rooftop is Brighton’s only LGBTQ+ rooftop bar, so you can be sure that you’ll be welcome here.

They serve up quirky cocktails, that can be enjoyed while taking in the breathtaking views of Brighton’s famous seafront.

If you’re on the rooftop at 9:30 pm on a day that Club Revenge is open, then you also get free entry to the club, which is pretty great!

12. Trading Post

Their Kensington Gardens location has a banging rooftop space that’s perfect for enjoying a spot of brunch with your coffee.

It offers panoramic city views which you won’t soon forget, so if you want a great snap with a backdrop of the skyline, this is the brunch place for you.

Or why not sip on an espresso martini here in the afternoon, if that’s more your bag?

After all, a coffee roaster should surely whip up a half-decent espresso martini!

The Lion & Lobster is one of Brighton’s oldest pubs, and it’s incredibly well-loved, too.

Their fixed price menu is famous among locals, as it only costs £12 for two courses, which is a pretty great deal, don’t you think?
