Rooftop Bars Brixton: 6 Best Bars with Amazing Views [2024]

by

Brixton is one of the coolest areas in London by a mile.

It’s a super fun place with loads of places to eat and drink, and you’re sure to find somewhere that’s to your taste here.

The area has a relaxed vibe and is brimming with food and experiences from a whole host of cultures.

If you’re looking for the best rooftop bars in Brixton, then you’ve come to the right place.

While there aren’t loads of rooftop bars here, the ones they do have are well worth a visit.

I’ve rounded up the very best rooftop bars in Brixton so have a look through and book into your favourites!

1. Lost in Brixton

Address: Brixton Village, Coldharbour Ln, London SW9 8PS

Phone number: 020 8187 1038

Lost in Brixton is a trendy rooftop spot that has been conceptualised with a little imagination and a lot of love.

Their motto is “take a wrong turn to the right place”, and it has the vibe of a secret garden that’s easy to get lost in.

This colourful bar is decked out with florals and greenery to make you feel like you’re in a tropical paradise.

Street food vendors from Brixton Village offer an eclectic international menu, with something to suit every taste.

The cocktail menu is inspired by Latin America, and they also have a fab selection of local craft beers.

Live music and DJ sets are commonplace here, making it a real place to go for a boogie with your besties.

There’s a choice of eight different food traders, ranging from French food to Caribbean cuisine.

My personal favourite is Jalisco as I’m a huge fan of Latin American food, and who doesn’t love a burrito, right?

I could be swayed by a baked Camembert or some wings, though!

Why not order from a few vendors and get a taste for all of them?

Lost in Brixton also take bookings for up to 200 people, so it’s a cracking place to go for a private party if that’s what you’re after!

Book in and get ready to party.

(P.s. this is one of the best places to go for a rooftop bottomless brunch in London so don’t miss out!)

2. Upstairs at The Department Store

Address: 10 Stockwell Ave, London SW9 8BQ

Phone number: 020 3598 6970

Upstairs at The Department Store is a laid-back members’ club which serves up fine food and drinks.

It’s, unsurprisingly, located on the top floor of The Department Store.

The name kind of gives that away, I guess!

If you’re looking for somewhere to wine and dine, this is the place.

It’s a relaxed social space with an exquisite glass dome as a roof, and it’s truly amazing.

Membership gets you access to the gorgeous rooftop dining space and terrace, while non-members can hire the private dining rooms should they so desire.

This lovely space has fantastic views across Brixton and is a great place for an uncrowded yet still fun drinks spot.

They also host members’ only parties throughout the year, which are said to be incredible.

Similarly, the food here is sublime.

(Get the beetroot carpaccio and the market fish, and thank me later.)

They also have some tasty bar snacks if you’re just feeling a bit peckish.

How about a mini burger or some cheesy arancini?

Delicious!

Members also get access to weekly yoga and pilates classes, which is pretty cool.

A membership will set you back £240 annually or £23 a month if you want to pay monthly, which is super reasonable when you consider all the benefits.

Go on, treat yourself – you deserve it!

3. Prince of Wales

Address: 467-469 Brixton Rd, London SW9 8HH

Phone number: 020 7095 1978

Prince of Wales is one of the best rooftop bars in Brixton, there’s no doubt about it.

They have live music, comedy nights and club nights, allowing them to cater to all kinds of interests.

But more importantly, they have a fantastic two-tiered roof garden which is super cool and vibey.

If you’re after a place for a late-night drink and a dance, this is the one for you.

Watch the sun go down from their fantastic roof terrace with a cocktail in hand – this is your main character moment!

Time Out has described it as the best outdoor terrace in London, which has to count for something, right?

It’s fun, it’s colourful, and the atmosphere is always buzzing.

Make sure to check out their 1920s art deco dancehall, too!

A bit peckish after all that dancing?

Fear not, because they have everything from pizza nachos to Caesar salads.

Throw on your best outfit, add in your favourite dancing shoes, and get ready to have the time of your life at this fantastic venue.

It’s by far one of the best rooftop bars in Brixton!

4. Barrio Brixton

Address: 30 Acre Ln, London SW2 5SG

Phone number: 020 7749 3940

Barrio Brixton is one of many fun and vibrant Latin American inspired Barrio Bars that have popped up around London in the last few years.

It’s colourful, it’s buzzing, and the vibes are immaculate.

If you’re looking for a smack of Latin attitude that will make you feel like having a fiesta, then look no further.

Barrio Brixton will transport you to a faraway holiday destination and is certain to get you in the mood to party.

It’s not quite a rooftop garden, but their outdoor terrace is one of the best in town, so give it a go!

Barrio is also one of the best places to go for bottomless brunch in Brixton, which always improves a bar in my books.

Their food is absolutely to die for!

Think tacos, burritos, burgers… and now tell me how you’re able to resist.

The whole menu is immense, and it has me drooling just thinking about it!

Don Diablo vegan wings and some buffalo fries? Yes, please!

Or how about an ancho chicken burrito and some Barrio beef chilli fries?

You can have it all here at Barrio Brixton!

Pair their gorgeous grub with a Club Tropicana cocktail and you’ll be ready to dance in no time!

There’s no better place for a party than here, trust me on this one.

5. The Duke of Edinburgh

Address: 204 Ferndale Rd, London SW9 8AG

Phone number: 020 7326 0301

The Duke of Edinburgh is a great pub that’s well-loved among Brixton locals.

While they don’t have a rooftop garden per se, their beer garden is one of the best in Brixton by a mile.

(It felt unfair to exclude it when it’s so good!)

A large range of beers on tap and a resident kitchen by White Men Can’t Jerk makes this a real destination on a sunny afternoon.

Fairy lights adorn the huge garden, giving it a super cute ambience that you’ll love.

They say it’s South London’s biggest beer garden, which is quite an impressive feat, don’t you think?

It’s great for big groups, and the atmosphere is always buzzing, which is what we want!

White Men Can’t Jerk have great deals on throughout the week, so be sure to check those out.

Their menu has some incredible jerk chicken which is not to be missed!

Veggie or vegan?

Don’t worry, they’ve got you covered too.

How about a southern fried cauliflower bun?

Sounds pretty great, doesn’t it?

On Sundays, they do an amazing roast dinner, too, which is well worth a try.

Give it a go – you won’t regret it!

6. Hope & Anchor

Address: 123 Acre Ln, Brixton Hill, London SW2 5UA

Phone number: 020 7274 8794

Hope & Anchor is one of the best pubs in Brixton, without a shadow of a doubt.

The garden is huge and the twinkling fairy lights make it a wonderful choice for an evening drinking session with your mates.

Now, it doesn’t have a rooftop, but when you see the garden you’ll forgive me for including it, I promise!

They have super cute little beach huts which you can book out for your group, which is a huge win in my eyes.

The huts are heated and the rest of the garden is covered with heaters dotted around, so this is a garden that’s perfect no matter the weather!

Whenever I’ve been here I’ve always had a fab time.

There’s always a buzzing atmosphere, no matter the time of day, and you can be certain you’ll have a great night at Hope & Anchor.

Their jackfruit loaded fries and buffalo cauliflower wings are to die for, so give those a go!

However, if you’re more than a bit peckish, then their burgers are meant to be unreal, too, so why not try one of those?

The buttermilk chicken burger sounds particularly tasty.

When it comes to drinks, they’ve got everything from pints to cocktails, so there’s something for everyone here.

Whether you’re after a relaxed drink or somewhere to get the party started, Hope & Anchor is here to help.

Book in now to avoid disappointment!

As you can see, although Brixton isn’t packed full of rooftop bars like some areas are, the ones it does have are pretty great.

If you’re happy to head to a beer garden rather than a rooftop bar, then I’ve included the best of the bunch in here for you too!

From a Latin American-inspired bar to a private members’ club, Brixton has it all.

This is one of the coolest areas in town, so wherever you go, you’re guaranteed to have a good time.

Set up a mini bar crawl and try out all of the bars on this list.

There’s plenty for an afternoon of fun, that’s for sure!

But if these haven’t taken your fancy, why not go check out the best rooftop bars in Peckham instead?
