Rooftop Bars Canary Wharf: 6 Best Bars with Great Views [2024]

by

After a long day in London’s business district, there’s no better feeling than watching the city come alive with twinkling lights, signalling that your day’s work is done.

(Especially when you have a drink or two in tow!)

Luckily, there are several great rooftop bars in Canary Wharf where you can soak up the city views from above.

Whether you’re celebrating a promotion or you just fancy a hump day treat, these rooftop bars will help you start (or finish!) your night in style.

So from Instagrammable rooftops to rooftops with live music, here are the six best rooftop bars in Canary Wharf!

1. Bōkan 38 Bar

Address: 40 Marsh Wall, London E14 9TP

Phone number: 020 3530 0550

Bōkan 38 Bar is one of the best cocktail bars in Canary Wharf – and luckily for you, it comes with sky-high views too!

Situated on the 38th floor of the Novotel Hotel, this destination bar, restaurant, and roof terrace is a one-stop shop for great vibes and even better drinks.

(Think unique cocktails, cool craft beers, and locally-distilled spirits, and you’re on the right lines.)

The bar is a dockside beacon that offers artisanal food and excellent drinks to all who step inside (or more appropriately, outside) its doors.

My favourite drink is their Adonis By Bōkan signature cocktail, an enticing and strong mix of Umeshu, pickled Vermouth, and Tio Pepe.

Pair it with a pulled pork brioche and thank me later!

Their roof terrace features a specialist gin bar and rooftop daybeds, perfect for kicking back and taking in the view on a sunny day.

It’s open all year round and is fully covered so come rain or shine, you can drink alfresco here!

Be warned: they don’t take bookings so if you want to nab a good spot, it’s worth arriving early.

2. ROKA

Address: 4, Park Pavillion, 40 Canada Square, London E14 5FW,

Phone number: 020 7636 5228

ROKA is an award-winning Japanese restaurant that serves tasty robatayaki cuisine in elegant surroundings.

They have locations all across London (and the world!) but their Canary Wharf location is one of my favourites thanks to its gorgeous roof terrace.

Adorned in greenery and overlooking the iconic Canada Square, ROKA brings together the modern cityscape with a jungle-like oasis.

The rooftop will instantly transport you from the hustle and bustle of the city to a calming sanctuary, while still maintaining the buzz of the capital.

Here you can unwind after a hard day’s work with some tasty drinks and even tastier treats!

From sophisticated tastings to sushi and sashimi to decadent desserts, there’s something for everyone at ROKA.

Alternatively, if you fancy a midday break from the desk, you can join them from noon to 3:30 pm for their cheaper weekday lunch menu.

£36 gets you a delicious three-course meal and it’s worth every penny and more!

And if you’re in the market for a rooftop bottomless brunch in London, you’ll be pleased to hear that they serve that too

While there’s no specified dress code here, I’d recommend smart casual, come night or day.

3. Big Easy

Address: Crossrail Pl, London E14 5AR

Phone number: 020 4580 1172

The place to go for brilliant BBQ food, Big Easy is one of my favourite rooftop bars in Canary Wharf.

Here they serve delicious fresh lobster and creative cocktails that will be sure to tantalise your tastebuds.

This laidback spot looks out on the famous skyscrapers of Canary Wharf, pairing breathtaking views with incredible food and drink.

Their impressive ten-metre bar is stocked with over 550 spirits, as well as their world-famous frozen margarita machines that are well worth taking advantage of.

After ordering a tipple or two, head out to their 150-seat sun-drenched terrace which is open all year round.

If you’re lucky, you may even be able to nab a spot in one of their iconic birdcages!

Here you can sip on one of Big Easy’s iconic rum cocktails while pretending you’re kicking back in Jamaica’s Port Royal.

They also have live music every single night, so if you want a boogie, then this is the place for it.

Fantastic food, brilliant beverages, and top-notch tunes?

What’s not to love?!

4. Pergola on the Wharf

Address: Crossrail Pl, London E14 5AR

Phone number: 020 8176 6105

Pergola on the Wharf is a beautiful, plant-filled oasis that sits peacefully by the water, creating a relaxed environment.

It’s situated in the iconic Crossrail Place Roof Garden which is home to many exotic plants and is free to visit all year round.

Here at Pergola, they serve cocktails and light bites, which you can enjoy as you look out across the water.

This botanical paradise has natural light that floods through the floor-to-ceiling windows, making it a real hotspot in summer.

However, if you want to soak up the sunshine, you should head out onto their expansive terrace.

It offers beautiful panoramic views over Canary Wharf’s north dock and they heat it in the colder months so you can enjoy it no matter the weather.

Pergola’s menu is centred around natural flavours and recipes so everything here is fresh and seasonal.

Think botanical and fruity cocktails, served alongside tasty dishes like chipotle jackfruit tacos.

They also happen to be one of the best places to go for bottomless brunch in Canary Wharf, so if you happen to be in the mood for unlimited booze then you know where to head!

5. Boisdale of Canary Wharf

Address: Cabot Square, London E14 4QT

Phone number: 020 7715 5818

Boisdale of Canary Wharf is home to some of the best live music in the capital.

And it just so happens to also have one of my favourite rooftop bars in Canary Wharf!

The luxurious and intimate spot is spread across two spectacular floors of an Art Deco building overlooking Cabot Square.

It’s home to a restaurant, an oyster bar with a terrace, and various other spaces, so it’s fair to say it’s got everything you could ever need!

Their beautifully green terrace spans the western side of the building, benefitting from plenty of sunlight and skyline views.

Spend an afternoon on the terrace as you sip on a cocktail or two, or head inside to dance to the incredible live music.

Outside, you can enjoy dinner and drinks from their short but sweet terrace menu.

Expect Argentine-inspired starters, mains, sides, and recommended wine pairings to go alongside.

Order the goat’s cheese, lemon, and oregano empanada, then wash it down with a flight of malbec or sauvignon.

Or if you want to treat yourself, then go for the 300g Argentine sirloin steak instead!

6. Chai Ki

Address: Crossrail Pl, London E14 5AR

Phone number: 020 7516 0444

Chai Ki is the go-to spot for modern Indian food and exciting and innovative drinks.

It’s got a beautiful rooftop terrace and classy indoor décor, perfectly setting the scene for your night out on the town.

Like Big Easy and Pergola on the Wharf, Chai Ki is also situated in Crossrail Place, so it’s perfectly placed for a rooftop bar crawl!

Chai Ki is a bar that offers an informal drinking and dining experience, with a street food-inspired menu that will be sure to tickle your fancy.

Anticipate Schezwan aloo wedges, Kerala fried cauliflower, and more!

Their outdoor terrace comes into its own in the summer months, transforming into a buzzing sundowner spot.

Order one of their signature cocktails then head out into the sunshine to enjoy it in style.

(The lychee rose bellini or the magic mule get my vote!)

For fans of experimental cooking paired with contemporary cocktails, this is easily one of the best rooftop bars in Canary Wharf.

So that concludes my round-up of the six best rooftop bars in Canary Wharf!

Whether you’re seeking a casual pint or a classy cocktail, there’s bound to be a rooftop bar here that ticks your boxes.

Pick out your favourite rooftop bars in Canary Wharf and make your way around them in the ultimate bar crawl!
