by

Staying in a Scotland sea view cottage is my idea of heaven.

And seeing as you’ve stumbled upon this article, you probably feel the exact same way!

If so, you’re in luck, because I’ve rounded up all the most beautiful Scotland sea view cottages for you.

Not only do they all enjoy unparalleled sea views, but they’re all amazing in their own right, whether it’s thanks to their bubbling hot tubs or their stunning interior design.

Regardless of which of these Scotland sea view cottages you book into, you can rest assured that you’ll feel completely rejuvenated after a stay in one of them.

So without further ado, here are the 26 best Scotland sea view cottages!

1. Eilean Sionnach Lighthouse Cottage

eilean-sionnach-lighthouse-cottage-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £550 for 10 people

Location: Isleornsay, Isle of Skye

I recently returned from a stay at Eilean Sionnach Lighthouse Cottage and to say it was magical is an understatement.

This place is wildly inspiring, completely enchanting, and a little slice of heaven!

One of the most unique Scotland sea view cottages, Eilean Sionnach is situated on a private island off the rugged coast of Skye.

It sleeps a whopping ten people, meaning it would be a great place for family get-togethers, big parties, or even a romantic getaway for two if your wallet allows it.

(If you fill the whole place up, though, a stay here can cost as little as £55 each a night which is a bargain for what you get!)

The cottage is luxuriously appointed, tastefully decorated, and a real home away from home, with the fridge, pantry, and alcohol supply all lovingly stocked before your arrival.

Whether you spend your days exploring the island or playing board games by the fire, I can promise this will be a holiday you’ll never forget.

What guests say: “This place is amazing and magical! Our kids and I all loved exploring the little island and the adventure of timing our walks from the island based on the tides. The skipper Gus, who transported us to and from the mainland, was wonderful and entertaining! I highly recommend this place.”

2. The Steading

the-steading-cottage-in-orkney-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £130 for 6 people

Location: Longhope, Orkney

Sitting on stilts in an enviable position on the picturesque Orkney Islands, The Steading enjoys some pretty spectacular views.

Inside, the floor-to-ceiling windows maximise the sea views so you can enjoy them come rain or shine!

As well as a spacious living and dining area with fantastic views, the cottage benefits from a fully-equipped kitchen, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms.

Spend your days enjoying the panoramic vistas from the balcony or cosy up in front of the Smart TV with Netflix to catch up on your latest binge.

There’s even a gorgeous freestanding tub for you to soak in – with a glass of fizz in hand, of course!

3. 1 Luskentyre

1-luskentyre-cottage-on-isle-of-harris-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £203 for 4 people

Location: Luskentyre, Isle Of Harris, The Outer Hebrides

Situated right by the world-famous white-sand Luskentyre beach, 1 Luskentyre is one of my favourite Scotland sea view cottages.

The views here truly are something special – and luckily, the cottage has an interior to match!

Stylish, modern, and elegant, 1 Luskentyre is a simply stunning cottage that is well-appointed and looks the part, too.

It sleeps up to four people across two king-size bedrooms and benefits from plenty of modern amenities, including a coffee machine, Sonos sound system, and three Smart TVs.

Enjoy the sea views from the comfort of the property or from your private bubbly hot tub.

Keep an eye out for the sunsets while you’re at it – they’re pretty spectacular!

What guests say: “1 Luskentyre was the loveliest property in the most beautiful location – the nicest we have experienced yet. Both the owner and the cleaner went to extraordinary lengths to provide the warmest welcome and ensure everything was perfect with every last detail attended to and some beautiful touches.”

4. Tigh Bhisa Blackhouse

tigh-bhisa-blackhouse-in-stornoway-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £103 for 2 people

Location: Stornoway, The Outer Hebrides

With its historic six-foot thick stone walls, exposed wood beams, and traditional wood-burning stove, Tigh Bhisa Blackhouse is bursting with charm and character.

It’s certainly one of the cosiest Scotland sea view cottages, that’s for sure!

Expect rustic hand-crafted furnishings alongside more modern amenities like a TV and a fully-fitted kitchen.

This traditional stone cottage sleeps two in a king-size bed, making it the perfect romantic getaway for couples.

And of course, it wouldn’t be on this list without some epic sea views, too, so step outside to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Outer Hebrides!

What guests say: “Our second time at this amazing property. Tucked away in a quiet bay with a beautiful rocky shore only 30 seconds away. Excellent attention to detail with tasty treats on arrival, to the quirky decor, everything was just perfect. The bed was cosy and fresh, and the property was spotless and well looked after.”

5. Seaview

seaview-cottage-in-northbay-near-eriskay-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £110 for 6 people

Location: Northbay near Eriskay, The Outer Hebrides

It should come as no surprise that a cottage with the name Seaview would have some pretty spectacular sea views.

Overlooking the magical wilderness of the remote Isle of Barra, this single-storey cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all.

The best place to enjoy the view here is from the decking balcony with seating, which enjoys panoramic views of the bay.

However, the inside of the cottage is just as lovely!

It has a king-size bedroom, double bedroom, and twin bedroom to spread yourselves across.

Water babies will love this cottage, too, as it’s only a stone’s throw from some of Scotland’s best white-sand beaches!

What guests say: We have stayed in various different places and houses on the Isle of Barra over the years and this property is by far the best. It’s spacious and modern yet maintains the Scottish Island feel. It’s comfortable in every way and the views from every window are spectacular.”

6. The Sheep Station Cottages

the-sheep-station-in-scarista-mhor-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £229 for 2 people

Location: Scarista Mhor near Leverburgh, The Outer Hebrides

The Sheep Station Cottages are some of the most beautiful sea view cottages in Scotland.

Situated on the scenic Isle of Harris, these two cottages are nothing short of perfection.

And I don’t use that word lightly!

From gorgeous marble bathrooms with free-standing tubs to super king-sized beds with decadent goose-down bedding, the cottages are completely luxurious.

Similarly, their contemporary kitchens are filled with all kinds of modern amenities, including Smeg appliances, Nespresso machines, and Nutribullets.

The decor is enough to make any interior designer weak at the knees!

And, of course, the sea views are unparalleled, too.

Take a look through the gallery on their website and I challenge you not to fall in love with these cottages.

What guests say: “A simply sensational stay. The property is finished to the highest spec; the views are breathtaking and there’s no expense or comfort spared (the welcome bottle of Bollinger in the fridge was most welcome!). Karen – the housekeeper – couldn’t have been more helpful either.”

7. Culkein Lodge

culkein-lodge-in-drumbeg-in-the-highlands-in-daytime

Price per night: From £165 for 8 people

Location: Drumbeg, The Highlands

Sleeping up to eight people, Culkein Lodge is one of the best Scotland sea view cottages for a large family or group of friends.

With a superb waterside setting, the cottage enjoys incredible views over one of Scotland’s best white-sand beaches.

You can soak up the views in the gorgeous sunroom that has a large feature window overlooking the water’s edge.

However, the room is also filled with multiple bookcases stacked full of books so you may have a hard time peeling your eyes away from them!

The fun doesn’t stop there, though, because the cottage also benefits from all kinds of luxuries, including sumptuous king-size beds, a walk-in rainforest shower, and a gorgeous claw-foot bath.

What guests say: “Culkein Lodge was wonderful. We felt so relaxed and very comfortable. The house was incredibly well-equipped – it had everything we needed and more… and books galore! We never tired of looking out of the windows at the ever-changing scene and it was a real bonus when the inquisitive seals popped their heads out of the water.”

8. Shore Lodge

exterior-of-shore-lodge-on-stornoway-on-sunny-day

Price per night: From £129 for 2 people

Location: Stornoway, The Outer Hebrides

Shore Lodge shore is something special.

(I’m sorry, I had to!)

This immaculate lodge is modern, beautifully designed, and utterly romantic.

From exquisite local art and a breathtaking glass wall with sea views to high-quality appliances and a Smart TV, so much love and thought has gone into every inch of the space.

Expect Egyptian cotton bedding, an inviting king-size bed, a luxurious bathroom, and even a lavish welcome gift awaiting your arrival.

And as if things couldn’t get any better, they throw a hot tub into the mix, too!

This cottage is so special and I just know you’re going to fall in love with it just as much as I did.

Come see it for yourself – I promise you won’t regret it!

9. Hona

hona-lodge-on-isle-of-lewis-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £95 for 2 people

Location: Mangersta near Uig, Isle Of Lewis

Hona is one of my all-time favourite Scotland sea view cottages.

Why, I hear you ask?

Well, firstly, it’s one of the most vibrant and beautifully decorated of all these cottages.

Secondly, it has a peaceful decking area from which you can soak up the sea views and enjoy a bit of al fresco dining.

And finally, the cottage is just a stone’s throw from the beautiful golden beaches of Mangersta and Carnish, where you can relax with your favourite book.

Talk about a triple threat!

All these things combine to make Hona the most romantic little bolthole for two.

What guests say: “Maybe it’s hard to trust feedback when all rankings are 5 stars. But for Hona, this is the only way to describe it. The owners are very fine artists and they turned this home into a most enjoyable and intriguing work of art. Stating, what it stands for: home in nature. Everything you need was there and even more.”

10. Red Chimneys Cottage

red-chimneys-cottage-on-isle-of-skye-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £80 for 4 people

Location: Totaig near Dunvegan, Isle of Skye

Red Chimneys Cottage is charming, cosy, and full of character – and it has some fantastic sea views to boot!

My favourite part of the cottage is the top-floor living room with sloping ceilings and a cosy wood-burning stove.

Lovingly stocked with books, games, and DVDs, it’s the perfect spot to shelter from the elements if the weather takes a turn for the worst!

However, if the Scottish weather does play ball, head outside to the cottage’s large, natural garden.

Here, you’ll find ample seating for you to kick back and enjoy the panoramic sea views.

What guests say: The Red Chimneys delivered all it promised from the cleanliness of the cottage to the peaceful location. Having breakfast seeing whales, dolphins and seals in the Loch and a stag walking through the garden one evening was amazing.”

11. Poppies Cottage

poppies-cottage-on-isle-of-mull-in-daytime

Price per night: From £42 for 2 people

Location: Salen, Isle of Mull

Perfectly positioned to enjoy spectacular views, Poppies Cottage is one of the most romantic sea view cottages in Scotland.

With a king-size bedroom, a cosy wood burner, a jacuzzi bath, and a sauna, you won’t have a hard time making a holiday here romantic.

After a long day exploring the beautiful Isle of Mull, the sauna provides a wonderful way to unwind and warm up!

The hosts have also lovingly stocked the cottage with DVDs, books, and games, as well as providing Wi-Fi, so there’s no chance of getting bored here.

Even better yet, prices start from just £21 per person per night so a stay here doesn’t break the bank either!

What guests say: Fabulous views. Lovely bathroom with a jacuzzi bath, sauna, and shower. Big comfy bed. Two comfy sofas, a washer and a dryer. Excellent… will stay again.”

12. Tigh en Leigh

tigh-en-leigh-cottage-in-shieldaig-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £112 for 7 people

Location: Shieldaig, The Highlands

If you’re planning on hosting a big group of people, Tigh en Leigh will be one of the best Scotland sea view cottages for you!

Not only does the cottage have enough beds to sleep seven, but it also has a super spacious open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, made with entertaining in mind.

Whether you’re planning a relaxing getaway or a big party, this cottage is ideal for both scenarios.

My favourite thing about the open-plan living area is its abundance of natural light from the generous windows and skylight.

The light makes the room feel airy and spacious, while the traditional wooden beams and wood-burning stove keep things nice and cosy.

To top things off, the views from this property are second-to-none.

You’ll never want to leave!

What guests say: We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage, with the most amazing views. It was comfortable, clean and well-equipped. A beautiful spot in the Highlands and great for kayaking/paddle boarding from virtually outside the front door. Wildlife spotting is fantastic too!”

13. The Salmon Bothy

the-salmon-bothy-in-cruden-bay-moray-on-sunny-day

Price per night: From £134 for 6 people

Location: Cruden Bay, Moray

It’s basically criminal to visit Scotland and not stay in a bothy at some point, right?

Well, luckily for you, The Salmon Bothy is a little fancier than most bothies you’ll find in Scotland!

Built in 1840 within the Conservation Area of Port Erroll, the property retains its original features but with the added benefits of a modern holiday home.

From a TV and Wi-Fi to luxury bathrooms and a fully-fitted kitchen with a Nespresso machine, the cottage is brimming with fantastic amenities.

Pair a modern interior with generous outdoor space and incredible sea views, and you’re onto a winner with this one!

What guests say: “We had a wonderful stay at the Salmon Bothy! The views alone are worth the visit. The house was very comfortable and the welcome gifts on arrival and card were very much appreciated! The beach is lovely and clean ideal for long walks, seal spotting and swimming.”

14. Viking Cottage

viking-cottage-in-glenuig-sound-of-arisaig-in-daytime

Price per night: From £91 for 7 people

Location: Glenuig, Sound of Arisaig

Perched on the edge of Samalman Beach with magnificent views over the Sound of Arisaig, Viking Cottage provides a restful retreat.

While many of the cottages on this list are super remote, this one is right next door to a pub and just 100 yards from the local shop, church, and village hall.

This makes it a great option for those looking to not be too far from civilisation.

The cottage itself sleeps up to seven people, making it a great option for larger families and groups of friends.

It also has all the modern amenities and mod-cons you’d expect from a self-catering cottage.

What guests say: The cottage is very comfortable, with a view of a tidal loch which exceeded our expectations. It has special little extras like an attractive painting in the living room, as well as a fantastic selection of games and books. Very thoughtful and generous.”

15. Askival

askival-cottage-in-elgol-on-isle-of-skye-on-sunny-day

Price per night: From £90 for 6 people

Location: Elgol, Isle of Skye

Askival is truly phenomenal!

With its high beamed ceilings, huge decking area, and mind-blowing views, it’s easily one of my all-time favourite Scotland sea view cottages.

The open-plan living area is the highlight of the property, with its huge TV, cosy wood-burning stove, and ample soft furnishings.

That being said, the spacious and modern kitchen is also a dream.

And finally, the king-size bedrooms are the cherry on top of an already very tasty cake!

Sitting in a fabulous elevated position with breathtaking sea and mountain views, Askival really is a dream come true.

What guests say: A lovely house set in a truly stunning location. Lovely living areas and bedrooms. The new balcony is a great addition offering an opportunity to sit out on warmer days. And the fire pit at the top of the garden is a revelation offering wonderful views! We will be back!”

16. Longforth Farm Cottage

longforth-farm-cottage-in-auchenmalg-near-glenluce

Price per night: From £87 for 4 people

Location: Auchenmalg near Glenluce, Dumfries & Galloway

If you’re looking for a cottage with a bubbling hot tub, Longforth Farm Cottage might be the one for you!

This huge cottage is incredibly accommodating, with two king-size bedrooms with Smart TVs, a spacious kitchen and living area, and two beautiful, modern bathrooms.

Outside, the story is much the same!

The property’s magnificent garden has a lovely patio with a BBQ and heaps of outdoor furniture, an extensive lawn leading towards the coast, and of course, the added luxury of a hot tub.

You’re in no shortage of places from which to admire the picturesque sea views, that’s for sure.

If it’s luxury that you’re after, it’s luxury that you’ll get at Longforth Farm Cottage!

What guests say: “This has without a doubt been the best accommodation I have stayed in. The friendliest of owners, the beautifully decorated furnishings, the hot tub and the views. I was saddened that my week R & R had ended. We found it hard to venture very far each day as we were so in awe of the beauty on our doorstep.”

17. Thorsvik

thorsvik-cottage-in-tokavaig-on-isle-of-skye-in-daytime

Price per night: From £60 for 6 people

Location: Tokavaig near Broadford, Isle of Skye

Thorsvik is one of the cheapest Scotland sea view cottages which already makes it an absolute winner!

However, there are more reasons to stay here than just its price tag.

With its huge floor-to-ceiling arched windows, gigantic decorative wood burner, and French doors opening out to a balcony, the open-plan living space is something special.

Whether inside or outside, the cottage is well-equipped for you to take advantage of the always-impressive Skye sea views.

Inside, you’ll also find some super comfy bedrooms and enough books to entertain you for weeks!

What guests say: “Never stayed in such a perfect place. The location was absolutely stunning and tranquil. The thoughtfulness as to what you might need was unbelievable. There was everything that you could possibly want! And just so comfortable, a real home from home – 10/10!”

18. Greshornish Boathouse

greshornish-boathouse-in-greshornish-on-isle-of-skye

Price per night: From £95 for 3 people

Location: Greshornish, Isle of Skye

For an authentic Scottish experience, look no further than Greshornish Boathouse.

With a double bedroom and a single sofa bed, this boathouse is a perfect romantic retreat for two, or alternatively, it’s great for a small family getaway.

Sitting above the boathouse itself, the inside of the cottage is simple with one bathroom and a no-nonsense living and kitchen area.

Unsurprisingly, it’s the setting that makes a stay here truly special!

With a lovely view across the loch from the gable end window in the sitting room, you’ll happily pass the hours just enjoying the scenery.

(And with no Wi-Fi or TV, you’ll have to entertain yourself somehow!)

Remember to keep your eyes peeled for passing seals!

What guests say: This is a beautiful warm, cosy boathouse. Views are fantastic and the lack of internet and TV turned out to be a real blessing forcing us to relax and drink in the beauty of the location. Otter spotting became our new hobby!”

19. Druidaig Cottage

druidaig-cottage-in-letterfearn-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £184 for 4 people

Location: Letterfearn, The Highlands

If there’s one reason to book a stay in Druidaig Cottage, it’s for its huge veranda.

Perfectly placed to enjoy the unparalleled views over Loch Duich, this charming cottage has so many things to love about it – not least the incredible view!

Inside, the cottage is spacious, well-equipped, and filled with light.

It comprises one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, a sizeable living and kitchen area, and a bathroom with a roll-top bath.

But let’s be honest, with mountain and sea views like these, you won’t want to spend too much inside.

Instead, you’re going to want to remember to pack your camera because the views here photograph seriously well!

I think you can now see why this is one of my favourite remote cottages in Scotland.

What guests say: This is the best place we have stayed by far. The location is incredible with stunning views of the shoreline. The veranda was visited at night by a pine marten and a badger and we loved watching all the wildlife including seals and otters in the bay. Would be hard to find a more perfect cottage for what we wanted.”

20. Woodburn Cottage

woodburn-cottage-in-dunvegan-on-isle-of-skye

Price per night: From £82 for 4 people

Location: Dunvegan, Isle of Skye

The inside of Woodburn Cottage is lovely, but the real reason to book a stay here is for the views!

Situated in the most tranquil spot, surrounded by rural farmland, this cottage is the perfect place to experience the magic that is the Isle of Skye.

There are plenty of great walks right on your doorstep, or alternatively, you can drive further afield for some of the island’s more popular tourist attractions!

A stay here starts from only £20.50 per person per night, which makes the cottage really affordable, too.

Save a few quid while you enjoy some incredible views of Skye, why don’t you?!

What guests say: “A lovely stay in a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. The cottage was lovely and cosy, the bed extremely comfortable and those views! The location is quite remote so be prepared for a long drive to the main road and check out the ruined church you can see from the property – it has a lot of history attached to it. “

21. Kelpie

decking-of-kelpie-lodge-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £80 for 4 people

Location: Craobh Haven near Ardfern, Argyll and Bute

If the photo above doesn’t already have you rushing to book a stay at Kelpie, I’m not sure what will!

Perfectly nestled on the bay in Craobh Haven, you couldn’t be much closer to the sea than at this cottage.

And luckily, you can enjoy the views from your lovely little patio area.

Inside, you’ll be equally pleased, as the lodge has a modern kitchen and dining area, two bedrooms, and a great bathroom.

As such, I wouldn’t be surprised if you want to bunker down at Kelpie.

But if you did want to explore further, you’re in a great place to venture out on a boat trip from Craobh Marina to the surrounding isles of Argyll.

The area is teeming with wildlife so remember to keep an eye out for seals and sea otters!

What guests say: “Neat cabin with a great view. Good value and very helpful owner. Excellent location with much interest in the immediate surroundings – wildlife, marina and boatyard, the estate and its tracks, and interesting local residents met on dog walks.”

22. Taigh Chailean

taigh-chailean-cottage-on-the-isle-of-lewis-in-daytime

Price per night: From £52 for 4 people

Location: Isle of Lewis

With stays here starting from as little as £13 per person per night, Taigh Chailean is an absolute steal.

Inside, the cottage is suitably simple but with plenty of luxurious touches and mod-cons that will make your stay a great one.

With a TV, Wi-Fi, a fully-fitted kitchen, a living area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom, you’ll be wanting for nothing!

And of course, the cottage wouldn’t be on this list without some spectacular sea views thrown in for good measure.

The large windows in the open-plan living room allow light to flood into the property, while also maximising sea viewing opportunity!

Stick yourself down in the armchair or sofa and get ready to soak up those sweet, sweet views.

What guests say: “I would give it seven stars! The house is very well-equipped with good quality furnishings, kitchen and cooking equipment. The location is stunning. The fresh eggs, bread and marmalade Marion left for us as a welcome gift were delicious and highly appreciated. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly!”

24. The Hollows

the-hollows-lodge-on-isle-of-skye-scotland-sea-view-cottages

Price per night: From £97 for 5 people

Location: Kensaleyre, Isle of Skye

Simple and cosy, The Hollows has everything you could need for a comfortable self-catering stay.

This white-stone bungalow not only enjoys incredible views of Loch Snizort, but it’s equally great inside, too.

With two king-size bedrooms, one single bedroom, a modern bathroom, and a spacious kitchen and dining area, it’s got everything you could need.

However, my favourite room in the bungalow is the cosy living area which has a toasty wood-burning stove with ample firewood.

I’m already daydreaming about tucking myself into the armchair by the fire with a good book in tow!

Pull yourself from the comfort of the bungalow, however, and you’ll get to enjoy outstanding views of one of Scotland’s best islands.

They’re worth it, I promise!

What guests say: What a fantastic cottage. Perfect location for touring Skye. The cottage is very well equipped and extremely comfortable, not to mention the fantastic view. Would definitely stay here again.”

25. Pier North

Next up, there’s Pier North, a unique and surprisingly spacious cottage sleeping up to five people.

Perched on the coast, this end-terrace cottage comprises three ground-floor bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a spacious and modern open-plan living and kitchen area upstairs.

The cottage benefits from fantastic loch views which you can enjoy either from the balcony or from the loch itself.

Yep, that’s right – Pier North comes with a private boat which you can take out for a spin on Loch Melfort!

Because what better way to enjoy the loch views than up close and personal from the water?!

What guests say: “The facilities are just superb, as is the lochside location. Everything exceeded expectations. There is every home comfort you could ever need. The location is simply stunning and leaves you speechless. A peaceful haven full of tranquillity and abundant wildlife.”

Want to bring your pup along with you?

Then book in for Silver Birch Lodge which is dog-friendly!

What guests say: “Five-star lodge with a view to match. I cannot imagine anywhere to beat this place. As soon as we walked in my wife and I both said WOW! It is so peaceful. Lots of wildlife, we saw deer, foxes, red kites, buzzards and many more.”
