15 Romantic Travel Gift Ideas for Valentine’s Day

by

Christmas is behind us, that New Year cheer is starting to fade, and what’s that poking its head around the corner?

Oh, yep, there’s Valentine’s Day.

Like Marmite, some people love it, some people hate it.

Because I’m sickeningly romantic and loved up, I fall into the former category.

While I don’t think that you need one day of the year to show your loved one just how much you appreciate them, I love a good excuse to treat my boyfriend to something.

Especially when those gifts are travel-themed.

As a travel blogger, I’ve also received my fair share of travel-themed gifts in the past too.

This means I’ve become quite the expert in providing great travel gift ideas.

Sometimes (read: always) you can’t afford a romantic five-star getaway to the Maldives.

So your significant other will have to put up with one of these travel gift ideas that won’t break the bank too much in comparison.

This selection features all the romantic travel gift ideas your heart could possibly desire for ladies, gents and everything in between.

1. Customised boarding pass pillow

Airportag customised Valentine's boarding pass throw pillow. Red romantic travel pillow. 15 Romantic Travel Gift Ideas for Valentine's Day

I’ve been eyeing up these customised boarding pass throw pillows from Airportag for quite some time now.

I think they are a lovely little way to add some colour and a personal touch to your home, to commemorate a special trip you and your partner went on together.

You can customise everything on these pillows including the airport code and name, flight number, gate, seats, your names, the date you travelled and the top bar colour.

Buy from Airportag for £40.

2. A Tinggly Valentine’s Day Experience Gift

This is one of my favourite travel gift ideas on this list.

A Tinggly Valentine’s Experience Gift combines the freedom of gift experiences with the excitement of a gift you can unwrap and hold in your hands.

Choose between a romantic break away or an experience box, from which your gift recipient can choose from hundreds of fun experiences across the world.

All are ideal for romantic quality time together!

However, one of my favourite things about Tinggly is its commitment to sustainability.

All their gift boxes are produced from fully recycled materials and are printed using eco-friendly inks.

Plus, for every gift experience, they offset CO2 carbon emissions by a whopping 200%. Pretty good, huh?

Buy from Tinggly from £99

3. A cork globe

Globes make a great little addition to any home and these Suck UK cork globes are no exception!

Not only do they look the part but you can also use them to pinpoint and display your favourite experiences, destinations, or inspire and explore new destinations for future travels.

This cork globe makes the perfect gift for any sustainable travellers as it trades in paper or traditional wood for the more sustainable material of cork.

Buy from Amazon for £60.

4. A Virgin Hot Air Balloon Flight

Is there anything more romantic than a hot air balloon ride?

Tick off a bucket list experience and make your partner’s day at once with a Virgin hot air balloon ride.

Complete with a champagne toast, there is nothing more special than heading to the skies with your loved one.

You can even treat your Valentine to a gift package that comes with a helium balloon in a box, and a hamper of Prosecco and truffles to add an extra special touch to the gift.

This is easily one of the best experience gift ideas for travellers!

His and hers, his and his, hers and hers, or however you roll, matching customised luggage tags and passport covers.

Lame as they may be, they are pretty cute, huh?

Plus, they are really practical as you don’t want anyone running off with your passport or luggage.

There are so many to choose from online (just get a browsin’) but I particularly love this luxury leather set from notonthehighstreet.

Add your initials or Mr and Mrs or whatever you want.

Not only do they look lovely but they are fantastic quality too meaning they will last for years to come.

By far my favourite gift on this list of travel gift ideas is a glamping getaway thanks to a Canopy & Stars gift card.

Over the years my favourite romantic getaways have included everything from eco-domes and safari tents to rustic wagons and hobbit holes.

I think all modern-day romances could do with getting off the grid, switching off your phones, and embracing the fresh air and each other’s company.

There’s not much more romantic than that!

8. Luggage

Some gorgeous luggage is always well-received by a travel lover, on Valentine’s Day or otherwise!

While you could get your loved one a practical piece of luggage, why not get something a little more special which is both practical but looks the part too?

I love the look of The Travel Hack‘s black and rose gold cabin case with an integrated handbag compartment – something a bit more special for the lady in your life.

Buy from Amazon for £49.95.

9. A romantic three-course dinner

Bottle of wine in fancy restaurant. Food, dinner, glasses, flowers. 15 Romantic Travel Gift Ideas for Valentine's Day

Perhaps a bit of a cliché Valentine’s gift but why not mix your usual meals out up by trying a new restaurant that offers something slightly different?

Most travellers love eating and trying different food is such an integral part of travelling for many, so transport your loved one abroad by treating them to some new cuisine.

Of course, it’ll never really live up to the real thing, but fingers crossed you’ll hopefully find the next best thing.

Who says you have to leave the country to experience the flavours of another part of the world, eh?!

10. A photo book of past adventures

Photobox photobook. Customised photobook, coffee table book. Images photos pictures. 15 Romantic Travel Gift Ideas for Valentine's Day

Why not design your loved one a romantic photo book to celebrate your top travel moments together?

These photo books from Photobox make lovely coffee table books that you will enjoy browsing through for many years to come!

Buy from Photobox.

You can never go wrong with gifting a spa day as a Valentine’s gift!

Just like glamping, a spa day is a perfect opportunity to relax, take a digital detox and spend some all-important one-to-one time with your loved one.

There are many amazing spas you can visit around the UK but one of my favourites is Thermae Bath Spa which I visited for a hen do in August.

If you’re a little more flush with cash, why not treat your significant other to a romantic weekend break in Bath at the same time?

14. Coordinate jewellery

With the precision of a serial killer or as the ultimate romantic gesture (a distinction which is all too difficult to make after recently binging Netflix’s You), why not buy your loved one a piece of coordinate jewellery this Valentine’s Day?

These could be the coordinates of your first date, first kiss, favourite holiday or the place you got engaged.

There’s plenty of coordinate jewellery to choose from across the interwebs but I particularly love these cufflinks and necklace!
