The bibimbap nutrition bowl is ideal for those who have a sweet spot for Korean food, while the falafel bowl is a fun twist on the classic.

Additionally, the satay tempeh is a fan favourite so I’d recommend trying that one, too.

This cosy and welcoming cafe is situated in Docklands and features an all-vegan menu that you’re sure to love.

From the best breakfast dishes to hearty, filling bowls, their menu features all sorts of delights.

Some menu highlights are the teriyaki ‘chicken’ bowl, the ‘chicken’ schnitzel burger, and the tofu banh mi wrap.

5. The Green Canopy

6. Serotonin Eatery

Head to The Serotonin Eatery for an escape from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne.

They describe themselves as “the world’s first happiness centre” which is no mean feat.

Inside the centre, you’ll not only find an eatery with an incredible vegan menu but also free fortnightly exercise classes and monthly educational events.

From positive pancakes and gingerbread waffles to acai bowls and avocado toast, The Serotonin Eatery excels at serving up delicious brunch dishes.

They want every bite to evoke a smile, and they certainly achieve that with their tasty vegan food!

7. Mister Nice Guy’s BakeShop

Founded back in 2010, Mister Nice Guy’s BakeShop was Melbourne’s first 100% plant-based bakery!

Specialising in celebration cakes and baked goods, the Mister Nice Guy team quickly upgraded to a bigger store, as they used to sell out every weekend before lunchtime.

This is a complete testament to just how delicious their food is!

But don’t get complacent, though, as they still sell out so make sure to head there quickly.

On arrival, you can expect to enjoy everything from cupcakes and cakes to patisserie and deli items.

8. Particle Cafe

This cafe is 100% vegan which means you can order absolutely everything on their menu.

A firm favourite of mine is their grilled vegan halloumi, homemade kale and hemp seed pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, and avocado bagel.

It’s just as tasty as it sounds!

9. Cafe Louis Fitzroy

Cafe Louis is a gorgeous cafe situated in the heart of Fitzroy that prides itself on serving innovative vegan and veggie dishes.

They’re best known for their amazing brunch dishes but they serve toasties and treats, too.

From Lotus Biscoff French toast to Louis’ Big Breakfast, they sure don’t mess around when it comes to vegan food here!

Their double patty plant-based burger is also the stuff of dreams so I’d recommend trying that out sometime as well.

10. Raw Galore

Raw Galore prove that enjoyment and nourishment aren’t mutually exclusive.

Every single one of their handmade products is proudly vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, and not to forget, delicious!

Some menu highlights are their Mexican Jaffle and their All About That Smash but you’re in for a treat whatever you order.

They’re also known for creating some of the best acai bowls in Melbourne so if you’re an acai bowl fan, you know where to head.

They have two stores in Melbourne (one in Bentleigh East and one in Brighton) so you’ll never be too far from your next Raw Galore fix!

11. Conscious Cravings Co

The team behind Conscious Cravings Co specialise in handcrafted vegan desserts that are made with no nasties.

Because you can still crave sweet treats as a vegan, right?!

Alongside some delicious desserts (hello walnut brownie!), they also have a huge all-day menu with non-stop vegan goodness.

Expect all the classics like acai bowls, avocado on toast, waffles, and more!

Another of my all-time favourite vegan cafes in Melbourne, Monk Bodhi Dharma is somewhat of a hidden gem.

Situated in Balaclava, it has an animal-friendly menu that will feed your stomach and your soul.

Don’t miss their banana dharma pancakes or their bodhi buddha bowl as both are the stuff of dreams.

(Their Chai Oat Latte is a firm favourite of mine, too, so order that alongside!) 

Before you leave, make sure to pick up one of their baked goods or raw prepared sweets that are all prepared in-house.

Their signature dish is their fried ‘chicken’ burger served in a matcha-infused bun, and it’s just as incredible as it sounds.

Other items on their fully plant-based menu include vegan ‘eggs’, whole food bowls, and a wordplay-heavy list of acai bowls and smoothies!

15. Moon Rabbit Cafe

Moon Rabbit Cafe prides itself on putting people and the planet first.

That’s why they’ve created a menu full of seasonal, local produce that minimises waste at every stage of the process.

Whether it’s reusing bread loaf ends or putting scraps into a food waste dehydrator, Moon Rabbit do their utmost for the planet.

It should come as no surprise, then, that they have plenty of vegan options on their menu!

Expect homemade wraps, burgers, pizza, and more, which you can enjoy from one of their two courtyards or beneath their undercover dining.

16. Allister McAllister

Allister McAllister has something for everyone: vegans, coeliacs, lactose intolerants, you name it!

This quirky cafe is situated on Brighton Beach and although its menu is simple and short, you’re sure to love it.

Perfect for a quick bite on the go, they serve everything from $5 toasties to $4 protein balls, as well as some seriously tasty coffee.

Top tip: order the banana bread and thank me later.

17. The Ambitious Act

The Ambitious Act is a beautiful all-vegetarian cafe that you’ll be pleased to hear has an almost entirely vegan menu, too.

They’re known for their brunch dishes so if it’s a vegan brunch that you want, it’s a vegan brunch that you’ll get at The Ambitious Act!

My favourite item on their menu is the loaded pan-fried potatoes with veggie bolognese mince, pickled onions, aioli, vegan cheese sauce, and gochugaru chilli oil.

The Moroccan salad with marinated beetroot, grated carrot, mint, pomegranate molasses dressing, dukkah, and raisins comes in at a close second, though.

Whatever you order, you’re in for an absolute treat!

18. Smith & Daughters

Smith & Daughters are known for their unforgettable dishes, and even better yet, they’re all vegan. 

Just like the last two recommendations, Smith & Daughters is a restaurant rather than a cafe but you won’t be complaining when you take that first bite.

Not only do they have a great brunch menu, but they also have some fancier à la carte and set menus.

If you want to treat yourself, there’s no better place to do it than Smith & Daughters!

19. Love Madre

Love Madre is a plant-based cafe that serves wholesome and nutritious comfort food.

With room to eat in but also very popular for takeaways, this cafe is perfect for grabbing a bite on the go!

They offer a 100% vegan menu with their dishes ranging from nachos, pancakes and burgers to toasties, acai bowls, and buddha bowls.

Whatever you’re in the mood for, they probably have it on their menu, so head here for the vegan feast of dreams!

20. Union Kiosk

If you’re in the mood to feel like a kid again, head to Union Kiosk which specialises in 100% vegan jaffles.

With a whopping 14 jaffles on their menu, you’re truly spoilt for choice here!

The tofu scramble, ham, cheese, and hollandaise jaffle is a firm favourite with customers – it’s cheesy, comforting, and oh-so-delicious!

Other menu highlights are the vegan roast chicken, yay feta, and spinach jaffle, and the spicy pulled vegan beef, chipotle sals, jalapeno, and cheese jaffle. 

Union Kiosk also serves some amazing coffee and sweets so make sure you order some of those, too.

21. Friends of the Earth Cafe

Be a friend to the earth by paying a visit to Friends of the Earth Cafe.

If you’re not already familiar with Friends of the Erth, it’s a global environmental and social justice organisation.

Unsurprisingly, they’re a not-for-profit enterprise so you know that every cent you spend here will go straight back into the business. 

Their lovely Melbourne cafe opened in the 90s, and 30 years later, they’re still serving delicious, organic, and gluten-free fare.

Expect vegan lunch bowls, organic pies, pizza, sweets, and more!

This plant-based eatery serves nothing but vegan, organic, and soul-nourishing cuisine.

On their menu, you’ll find all-day breakfast, bowls, heavier dishes, burgers, toasties, and more.

From salt and pepper tofu to organic cauliflower fritters, to a ‘chicken’ schnitzel burger, they serve it all at SoulPod Food.

From seasonal wild mushrooms to house-baked banana bread, you’ll easily find a vegan item on their menu that’s up your street.

This family-friendly restaurant welcomes people of all ages to try its meat-free fare.

Treat your little ones to Picky Chicky CFC ‘chicken’ to see if they notice it’s not meat!

As well as serving hearty breakfast food, they also serve various burgers, waffles, toasties, wraps, and bowls.

Top tip: end your meal on a high with an Oreo brownie or a Snickers cookie.

Everything on their menu is vegan and most of it is raw, too.

Expect delights like vegetable noodles with spicy tahini sauce, curry with coconut rice, and even pizza!

On top of this, they also sometimes have a pop-up cafe in Melbourne where you can enjoy their deliciousness out of the house.

31. For Change

Based on the University of Melbourne campus, For Change donates all its profits to programs aimed at alleviating youth homelessness.

The adorable little cafe is housed in a converted shipping container and is best known for its plant-based jaffles that range from kimchi tofu to meatballs to caramelised pumpkin.

Their menu also features toasted sandwiches, soups, and sweet treats – and best of all, it’s all vegan!

Eat well and donate to a great cause – what’s not to love?

32. Zen Arcade Cafe

Serving bagels, muffins, cakes, and coffees, Zen Arcade Cafe‘s menu is entirely vegan.

The highlight of the menu is, of course, their bagels and there are all sorts of delicious fillings for you to try.

One of my favourites is the CLT (smokey coconut, avocado, tomato, and rocket) but they’re all delicious, really.

However, if you need to please all kinds of eaters, visit their sister branch New Day Rising Café instead!

The cafe serves amazing vegan, veggie, and meat-based bagels.

33. NUTTEA

Say hello to Australia’s first vegan bubble tea!

Bringing a fresh, plant-based alternative to the dairy-heavy bubble tea market, NUTTEA makes it easy to live an amazing dairy-free life.

Their bubble teas are said to “taste too good to be true” and I can totally vouch for this!

From tea to coffee to smoothies, all their menu items are made from nut cream or nut milk.

Soul Sisters Cafe in Camberwell is one of my favourite vegan cafes in Melbourne.

From an extensive and refreshing acai bowl menu to toasties and hearty warm food, there’s something for everyone on their menu.

My favourite items on their menu are either the Heart Felt burger or the sesame tofu salad – both are completely delicious!

They also serve lots of fresh smoothies, juices, and coffees, if it’s a drink that you’re after.

35. Lona Misa

Lona Misa is another South Yarra hotspot that’s well worth a visit.

This one’s more of a restaurant than a cafe, but you’ll forgive me after you take one glance at their heavily vegan menu.

Renowned Melbourne chefs Shannon Martinez and Ian Curley work closely with local farmers, providers, and producers, to source fresh ingredients – and they get creative with these ingredients!

As such, their menu doesn’t just feature the same old boring vegan dishes.

Instead, you’ll get dishes packed full of exciting, bold, and flavourful ingredients.

How do moorish spiced oyster mushrooms grilled over coals sound?!

Good?

Then get yourself down to Lona Misa!

36. The Carringbush Hotel

A hotel with a meat-free menu?

Yes, please!

The exterior may surprise you, but just because it’s a classic-style pub, doesn’t mean it can’t be plant-based.

The Carringbush Hotel has an extensive menu of vegetarian and vegan dishes, with plenty of nut-free and gluten-free options to boot.

Admittedly, this one is more of a restaurant than a cafe but it’s too good to miss!

Top tip: visit for their taco night every Tuesday from noon to 9 pm.

Each taco comes in at a sweet $4.50 and there are always three different flavours to try each week, washed down with their cocktail, beer, and tequila specials.
