Much to my delight, when I moved to Leeds, I discovered that they have an incredible range of places for veggies and vegans to eat!

It’s great to see so many vegan restaurants in Leeds, and I’ve narrowed down the best of the bunch for you in this list, so all you have to do is scroll until something catches your fancy.

It couldn’t be easier to find the best vegan restaurants in Leeds!

1. Doner Summer

Doner Summer is the ultimate vegan junk food hotspot.

They serve unreal kebabs, fried chick’n and sides, and the best part is, everything on the menu is completely vegan friendly!

My personal favourite is the fried chick’n combo with buffalo sauce.

However, everything I’ve tried from there is amazing, so I can promise you that you won’t be disappointed!

They’re also on Deliveroo if you fancy a yummy meal in the comfort of your own home.

2. Cantina

Cantina proudly holds the title of Leeds’ first vegan eatery, so there was no way a list of vegan restaurants in Leeds would be complete without them!

They offer diners a mouth-watering multicultural menu that is entirely plant-based, and it’s served up in a super chilled atmosphere, with curved windows that look out across the city.

Their dessert menu is particularly incredible, featuring dishes like deep-fried Oreos with maple syrup.

This is the perfect place to totally treat yourself.

3. Hyde Park Book Club

Hyde Park Book Club’s extensive menu caters exclusively to vegetarians and vegans!

They use meat substitutes from The Vegetarian Butcher, which allows much of their menu to be vegan, too, and the dishes that aren’t can usually be made vegan, which is great.

They have everything from “chicken” sandwiches to breakfast muffins, and all of it is seriously yummy.

4. Sheaf St.

The menu at Sheaf St. isn’t entirely meat-free, but around half the menu is veggie or vegan friendly, which is a pretty good effort.

They have a sizeable daytime menu as well as a shorter evening menu, and you’ll want to stick around all day in this cool spot!

They also run events including club nights, so check them out to see if anything takes your fancy.

5. Knaves Kitchen at Oporto

This 100% vegan street food popup serves up ‘guilty eats with a conscience’.

They have a breakfast menu as well as their main menu, and you are in for a treat if you decide to eat here.

The gang at Knaves Kitchen are experts in vegan junk food, so every bite you take here will be packed full of flavour.

Oporto is also a great venue, hosting gigs regularly, and they always have great tunes on in the background, so you can get your boogie on after wolfing down your meal.

6. Manjit’s Kitchen

Serving up vegetarian Punjabi street food, Manjit’s Kitchen is something of a legend on the Leeds food scene.

They’ve been operating since 2010 when they launched as a delivery service, and they’ve gone from strength to strength ever since.

Their menu consists of small plates and snacks, as well as a couple of bigger dishes, but the Thali is the star of the show, offering rice, roti and two or three curries.

Everything they serve is delicious, and it’s great to be able to support such a strong local business.

7. Oranaise Café

If Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine is your kind of thing, then Oranaise is one of the best vegan restaurants in Leeds for you.

The restaurant is furnished with traditional North African lamps and décor, setting the scene for your delicious Mediterranean meal.

After a lot of requests from customers for veggie and vegan food, the head chef developed a huge vegan menu.

In fact, it’s almost as large as the main menu!

The main menu also includes a bunch of veggie options, in case you still want to indulge in some cheese.

8. Bundobust

Bundobust is a craft beer bar serving Indian street food.

What a perfect combination!

If you’re after a casual and chilled vibe, then Bundobust will be right up your street.

Their menu is pretty big and is entirely veggie, as well as having plenty of vegan options, including a vegan combo for two which looks like it’s full of absolute deliciousness, such as their okra fries.

Get yourself down there and order a bunch of dishes to wash down with some lovely craft beers from their selection.

9. Roots and Fruits

Rather than having a set menu, Roots and Fruits operate using their Specials board, meaning the menu changes regularly in accordance with what produce is on offer at the local market, as they are passionate about supporting local businesses and shopping locally.

One thing you can count on is that almost everything on their menu will be plant-based, though, as well as there being a few vegetarian options.

Expect classic café fare like soups, burgers and pastas, among other things.

10. Humpit

If you want a filling meal that’s also healthy, head on down to Humpit in the Corn Exchange or at Leeds University Union.

Here you can choose between salad bowls topped with healthy delights such as hummus and falafel, filled pittas, Turkish pizzas, loaded fries and more.

11. Punk Vegan

Punk Vegan is another of the best vegan cafes in Leeds for any junk food lovers out there.

Punk are experts at burgers, nachos, and loaded fries, as well as a ton of other dishes.

The café is very rustic and is decorated with plants and wood panelling, adding to the cosy vibe of the place.

The food is delicious – try the “juck” loaded fries and the seitan buffalo nuggets.

You won’t regret it.

12. FINT

FINT is a local favourite in Leeds thanks to its yummy food and charming Scandinavian-style décor.

Their brunch menu has dishes from across the globe and plenty of options for us meat-free folk to tuck into, while their smaller evening menu also has several veggie-friendly options.

13. Eat Your Greens

Eat Your Greens is a grocery store by day and a restaurant and wine bar by night.

They focus on organic, local produce, and their dinner menu changes weekly to reflect what’s on offer in the local area.

They also offer a limited lunchtime menu from 12-4, so why not stop by here for a quick bite if you’re in the area?

Their vegan dishes are delicious.

14. The Grub & Grog Shop

This ethical and sustainable café and coffee shop is leading the way in Leeds’ #eatyourgreens movement.

They source ingredients locally before serving up delicious meals in a funky renovated warehouse.

Grub & Grog comes from the same people as Sheaf St., and their impact on the vegan food scene here in Leeds has certainly not gone unnoticed.

They do veggie and vegan Sunday roasts, too.

More than half of their menu is veggie-friendly, and there are a fair few vegan options on offer here too.

16. Wapentake

Wapentake serves up a banging Sunday roast that can be vegan or veggie, and at just £7 you’d be a fool not to try it.

Their main thing is brunches though, and they have a really decent selection of veggie and vegan options on their brunch menu.

Their aim is to have a vegan alternative for every meat option, and they do a pretty good job of achieving that aim!

17. La Cafetiere

Inside the warm and bright La Cafetiere, you’ll find a menu packed with veggie and vegan options.

Their menu is Mediterranean, and their food is delicious.

You’ll be spoiled for choice here, with vegan options ranging from vegan pizza to falafel wraps, with a whole world of yumminess in between.

18. Ecco Pizzeria

A classic Neopolitan pizzeria, Ecco has a huge pizza menu, and the good news is, a lot of them can be made vegan by swapping out the cheese for vegan mozzarella!

There are at least fifteen veggie pizzas on the menu, too, so there’s plenty of choice.

Their extensive sides and salads menu also has loads of options for veggies and vegans, so you definitely won’t be going hungry at Ecco.

19. Inkwell Arts Café

Tucked inside Inkwell Arts is a wonderful café that serves a completely vegetarian menu, with a ton of vegan options too.

Their environmentally conscious and ethical ethos guides their cooking, and you can taste the love that went into making each and every dish.

They have menus that start with breakfast and work down to late afternoon, so no matter what time of day it is, you’ll find something to love.

Their tacos look particularly delicious, but everything on the menu looks amazing really, and there truly is something for everyone, from sandwiches to nachos and beyond.

The menu is full of incredible small plates that open you up to a world of flavour.

A meal here is certainly one of the best date ideas in Leeds!

They also offer a lunch menu as well as a regular evening menu, so don’t fear if you don’t fancy a 7-course meal because the food on the lunch menu is just as delicious.

Falafel Guys‘ street food van serves some of the most amazing food in Leeds.

Their Arabic wraps are to die for, and they are absolutely full to the brim with delicious fillings.

It may only operate on a takeaway basis, but it’s a great option to stop by for lunch on a day out shopping, as it’s pretty centrally located too.

27. Mardin
