Acai Bowls San Diego: 29 Best Places to Go for Acai Bowls [2024]

by

California is known for being an absolute haven for vegans and health food fans, so it’s safe to say Californians know a thing or two about acai bowls.

One of the best places to enjoy a refreshing acai bowl in California is San Diego, and luckily for you, I’ve rounded up all the best spots!

There’s something for everyone on this list, whether you want a quick grab-and-go bowl or an extravagant build-your-own bowl.

Have a scroll and get ready to discover your new favorite acai bowls in San Diego!

1. Ocean Cafe

nutella-acai-bowl-from-ocean-cafe-acai-bowls-san-dieg

Address: 4426 Ingraham St, San Diego, CA 92109

Phone number: 858-900-2126

Price per bowl: $9.25 – $13.70

With a name like that, you just know you’re going to get some amazing views to accompany your acai bowls at Ocean Cafe.

Described as Pacific Beach’s hidden gem, Ocean Cafe promises strong coffee, tasty acai bowls, and a relaxing environment to boot.

They believe their acai bowls are some of the best in the business because they adhere to a true, authentic Brazilian recipe.

And I’d be inclined to agree!

They have five delicious acai bowls on their menu, or you also have the option to build your own bowl if you don’t like any of theirs.

However, if I were you, I’d leave it up to the experts because they really know what they’re talking about here!

My recommendation would be the Hawaiian bowl which is topped with granola, banana, strawberry, blueberry, honey, pineapple, mango, and shredded coconut.

Yum!

You can also add on a bunch of different additions, including CBD oil, peanut butter, Nutella, matcha, brain boost, and so much more!

Prices range from $9.25 to $10.25 for their regular 16 oz bowls and $13.25 to $13.70 for their large 24 oz bowls.

2. Everbowl

acai-bowl-from-everbowl-acai-bowls-san-diego

Address: Multiple locations

Price per bowl: $7.99 – $9.99

Everbowl will forever have a place in my heart.

Their slogan is “made from stuff that’s been around forever” which surely should be all our diets, right?!

They like to think of their acai bowls as “nature in a bowl” and I’d be inclined to agree.

You can choose from one of their $7.99 readymade bowls (Everbowl, Tropical, Chewy, or Apple Up), or alternatively, create your own $9.99 Whatever bowl.

For your Whatever bowl, you’ll be enjoying a classic acai base, as well as any of their toppings.

Their toppings range from bonus bases (chia pudding, everoats, granola) and nut butters (almond and peanut) to fresh fruit (cinnamon apples, kiwi, etc.), super boosts (bee pollen, chia seeds, etc.), and dry add-ons (goji berries, cacao nibs, etc.).

If you go for one of their readymade bowls, I’d recommend the Chewy bowl.

It’s the perfect peanut-buttery acai bowl for PB lovers!

Everbowl has three locations in San Diego (in Little Italy, Mission Valley, and SDSU), so you can choose the location that’s most convenient for you.

3. Roots Bowls

two-bowls-from-roots-bowls-acai-bowls-san-diego

Address: 1225 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92103

Phone number: 619-458-9411

Price per bowl: $7 – $15

If Roots Bowls does anything well, it’s beautiful hand-crafted acai bowls.

Bowls are their bread and butter so it’s probably not surprising that these are some of my favorite acai bowls in San Diego!

They have four pre-designed bowls for you to choose from (Hillcrest, Roots, 1904, and Bankers Hill) which all come in at a sweet $7 for a 12 oz bowl or $9 for a 16 oz bowl.

My favorite of these bowls is definitely the Bankers Hill, a delicious blend of acai, matcha, and chia pudding.

They then top it with granola, strawberries, banana, grapes, peanut butter, organic coconut, chia seeds, goji berries, sunflower seeds, agave, and matcha powder.

Just check out all of that superfood goodness!

Alternatively, if you’d rather build your own bowl instead, that is also an option.

If you choose to do this, you’ll be paying $9 for a 12 oz bowl, $11 for a 16 oz bowl, or $15 for a 24 oz bowl.

To build your bowl, you start by choosing an unlimited combination of their bases: acai, chia pudding, pitaya, matcha, white coco, and non-fat yogurt.

Next, you pick your granola from hemp and pumpkin seed flax, organic cocoa with chia seeds, and organic gluten-free.

Finally, you can select unlimited toppings with a $0.79 fee for each topping.

As you can see, these work out a lot more expensive, so I always choose one of the pre-designed bowls, but it’s great that you have the option to make your own anyway!

4. Chiefy Cafe

bowl-from-chiefy-cafe-acai-bowls-san-diego

Address: 777 Sixth Ave #105, San Diego, CA 92101

Phone number: 619-501-8458

Price per bowl: $7.80 – $9.88

Chiefy Cafe is one of my absolute favorite places to go for acai bowls in San Diego, and I’m sure that after seeing the photo above, you already understand the hype!

They only have one acai bowl on their menu but why create many when you’ve already got this one nailed down?!

Their classic bowl costs $9.88, which gets you acai with mixed berries, banana, granola, and honey, with the option to add almond or peanut butter, too.

Sometimes simple is best and that’s exactly what you get with this acai bowl!

This independent, women-operated, dog-friendly coffee shop has so much to love about it and I know you’ll feel the same once you’ve visited.

5. Juice Wave

two-bowls-from-juice-wave-acai-bowls-san-diego

Address: 3733 Mission Blvd, San Diego, CA 92109

Phone number: 858-488-0800

Price per bowl: $12.50

Juice Wave‘s acai bowl is huge, filling, and completely delicious.

It costs $12.50 and for this price, you get acai sorbet topped with strawberries, banana, house-made granola, Mikolich honey, Evo hemp hearts, and a surprise seasonal topping!

However, if that wasn’t enough for you, you can add house-made peanut butter for $1 or almond butter for $1.50.

I’d definitely add the peanut butter because who can say no to a bit of PB, right?!

Similarly, they also do a Pitay-dye Bowl which is exactly the same but it also has pitaya swirled into the acai sorbet.

This also costs $12.50 so you won’t be paying any extra for the pitaya.

(P.s. Don’t leave without trying one of Juice Wave’s cold-pressed juices – they are dreamy!)

6. Nekter Juice Bar

acai-bowl-at-nekter-juice-bar-acai-bowls-san-diego

Address: Multiple locations

Price per bowl: $8.35 – $9.95

Nekter Juice Bar is popular the nation over for its tasty juices and smoothies.

And luckily for you, they have four bars here in San Diego (in East Village, Core-Columbia, Liberty Station, and Mission Valley).

At Nekter, they have five bowls for you to choose from: the acai banana berry, the acai peanut butter bowl, the acai mango bowl, the PB&J bowl, and the acai superfood bowl.

Their acai superfood bowl is by far the most extravagant of the lot and is topped with everything from blueberry and goji berry to hempseed granola and a superfood blend.

However, my favorite of the bowls would have to be the PB&J bowl.

It’s a delicious blend of acai, pineapple, strawberry, blueberry, banana, housemade cashew milk, and agave nectar.

Throw some peanut butter chia, fresh strawberries, peanut butter granola, a scoop of PB, and housemade chia jam on top, and you’re onto a winner with this bowl!

They only use real ingredients here at Nekter and they make their cashew milk fresh daily, so you can expect nothing but the best from your bowl.

7. Liv’s Juice + Acai Bar

acai-bowl-and-smoothies-from-liv's-juice-bar-and-smoothies

Address: 1251 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92103

Phone number: 619-688-3997

Price per bowl: $11.99

Have you ever heard of a better combo than acai and juice?

I doubt it!

Luckily, Liv’s Juice + Acai Bar delivers on both of those things, and it does it to a super high standard, too.

Their acai bowl costs $11.99 and has a hearty base of acai, almond milk, strawberries, banana, blueberries, and homemade peanut butter.

You then get your pick from three topping choices: the house toppings, tropical toppings, and Nutella toppings.

The first features all the classics, including granola, homemade peanut butter, strawberries, banana, blueberries, and agave.

Alternatively, the second gets you granola, pineapple, coconut, kiwi, banana, chia seeds, and agave.

And finally, Nutella is topped with (yep, you guessed it!) Nutella, granola, strawberries, banana, and coconut.

The first bowl is probably my favorite because I love peanut butter, but Nutella may just sway me!

You can also add a huge variety of enhancers to your bowl for some extra dollars.

From chocolate chips to plant proteins to cinnamon streusel crunch, it’s time to Liv your best life at Liv’s Juice + Acai Bar!

8. Robeks Fresh Juices & Smoothies

two-acai-bowls-from-robeks-fresh-juices-and-smoothies

Address: Westfield Mission Valley, 1025 Camino De La Reina, San Diego, CA 92108

Phone number: 619-299-3280

Price per bowl: $10.49

With over 80 locations across America, Robeks Fresh Juices & Smoothies sure know a thing or two about crafting the perfect smoothie.

And with smoothie knowledge that good, it’s no surprise that they serve some of the best acai bowls in San Diego, too!

They have four acai bowls to choose from, each costing $10.49, and they’re all as tasty as each other.

First up, there’s the Acai Strawnana Berry Bowl.

It’s a tasty blend of acai, banana, blueberries, strawberries, and vanilla almond milk, topped with banana, strawberries, blueberries, granola, and raw honey.

The Acai Especial Bowl is probably the simplest of them all, comprising acai, blueberries, and banana, topped with banana, strawberries, blueberries, and granola.

Next, there’s the Acai Tropical Mango Bowl, which is ideal for those who like their fruits a little more tropical.

To make this bowl, they blend together acai, mango, banana, pineapple, coconut, and vanilla almond milk, then top it with banana, strawberries, mango, coconut, bee pollen, and raw honey.

Finally, there’s my favorite, the Nutty Acai Bowl.

It’s a base of acai, banana, strawberry, peanut butter, and papaya juice, topped with banana, peanut butter, granola, bee pollen, and raw honey.

Yum!

9. Vitality Bowls

Next up, we have Vitality Bowls.

They have ten incredible acai bowls for you to try so you might find yourself traveling to Vitality Bowls on more than one occasion, just so you can make your way through their entire menu.

Menu highlights are the pumpkin bowl, dragon bowl, green bowl, and warrior bowl – but all their bowls are amazing, really!

My favorite has to be the superfood bowl.

It’s made of a jam-packed blend of organic acai, pitaya, Graviola, strawberries, banana, kale superfood blend, and almond milk.

Then, they top it with organic granola, banana, blueberries, organic goji berries, organic cacao nibs, and honey.

Yum!

And this couldn’t be more true for their $13 acai bowl.

Their acai bowl is simple: a delicious and creamy acai and peanut butter base, topped with seasonal fruit, gluten-free granola, goji berries, coconut flakes, and agave.

All their ingredients are clean, fresh, and locally sourced, so you can rest assured that you’re doing your bit for the planet with every purchase!

11. Vitality Tap

Address: The Renaissance Owners Association, 650 1st Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

Phone number: 619-237-7625

Price per bowl: $10.75 – $11.50

Not to be mistaken for Vitality Bowls, Vitality Tap is a bright, counter-serve juice bar offering cold-pressed drinks, bowls, and cleanses.

They have some absolute beauties on their acai bowl menu and I can guarantee that you’ll want to return to try them all at some point.

The 16 oz classic bowl comes in at a very reasonable $10.75 which gets you a blend of acai, banana, and coconut water, with your choice of three free toppings.

Their toppings list is ridiculously long, ranging from fruits, nuts, and seeds to nut butter, cacao nibs, and superfood boosts.

You’ll have to pay a premium for the superfood boosts but it’s worth it to add stuff like chia seeds, hemp hearts, collagen, whey protein, and more, right?!

The other acai bowls on their menu are the almond butter bowl (acai, banana, almond butter, and almond milk), the half and half bowl (acai, pitaya, banana, and coconut water), the PB & acai bowl (acai, banana, peanut butter, and almond milk), and the PB & pitaya bowl (acai, pitaya, banana, peanut butter, and almond milk).

With all of these, you also get three free toppings!

Finally, there’s the slightly more expensive $11.50 pumpkin bowl which comprises acai, spiced pumpkin, bananas, and almond milk.

However, unlike the other bowls, you don’t get to pick your toppings, but you won’t mind once you hear how tasty they are!

How good do hemp granola, cacao nibs, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and honey sound?

If you agree, get yourself down to Vitality Tap!

12. Pressed

Price per bowl: $9.25

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better acai bowl than one from Pressed!

They have three locations in the city (in Little Italy, Mission Valley, and University City), but each offers the same delicious acai bowls.

They have three acai bowls to choose from, all for the same sweet price of $9.25: their original, their power bowl, and their superfood bowl.

Their OG is a clean take on the classic, featuring banana, strawberries, blueberries, granola, and agave, all floating on a base of acai, oat milk, and coconut cream.

Next up, their power bowl levels up the protein by swapping out the strawberries for satiating almond butter and almonds.

Finally, their superfood bowl swaps out the strawberries for coconut and goji berries for that added superfood boost.

(Top tip: if you’re a Pressed VIP you can get your acai bowl for just $8.25 instead!)

13. Juice Kaboose

Scoot your kaboose on down to Juice Kaboose for some of the tastiest acai bowls in San Diego!

This all-fresh, all-natural juice bar is home to the very first acai bowl in San Diego, which has got to be good for something, right?!

They have four acai bowls on their menu which you can order in either Hungry size ($9.95 – $10.95) or Mega size ($16.95 – $17.95).

If you want to save a dollar, go for their classic acai bowl.

It’s acai blended with organic soy milk and banana, topped with fresh fruit and organic gluten-free hemp granola.

With the rest of the bowls, you get the same fresh fruit and granola, but with extra ingredients blended into the base.

All of them are $1 more expensive but that extra dollar is so worth it!

Firstly, there’s the Ironman, which is acai blended with bananas, organic blueberries, organic soy milk, and organic peanut butter.

Secondly, the Lotta Beta is great for those looking to get their greens in: acai, bananas, organic apples, strawberries, beets, and spinach.

And finally, there’s the chocolate-coffee combo of dreams in Rise & Shine: acai, bananas, organic espresso, dark cacao, and organic soy milk.

My favorite of the four bowls is definitely the Ironman as I’m always looking for ways to up my protein intake.

However, I’ve tried all of them over the years and they’re all great!

Café Tropics is a vegan cafe that serves yummy acai bowls, pineapple bowls, smoothies, and more.

They have four acai bowls on their menu and they’re so delicious that you’ll want to try all of them!

My favorite bowl of theirs is the No Worries, and it’s appropriately named because as soon as you start to eat it, all your worries will slip away.

On top of the acai, you get granola, banana, strawberries, blueberries, coconut shreds, almonds, chia seeds, and agave, and it’s truly delicious!

Another fan favorite is the Tropics bowl.

They’ve had years to master the perfect acai bowl, experimenting with various flavor combinations, which has led them to a menu of six amazing bowls.

Each bowl costs just $10.99 so you won’t be paying a premium for them, either!

My favorite is the Himalayan Acai bowl which is topped with granola, strawberry, banana, goji berry, and honey.

However, many people flock to Rum Jungle Cafe just to try out their unique Aloha Acai Bowl.

They put acai, granola, and fruit inside a real pineapple, making it one of the most Insta-friendly acai bowls in San Diego!

Everyone knows Brazil does the best bowls so it makes sense that Brazilian Bowls serves some of the best acai bowls in San Diego!

They’re a little on the more expensive side but that’s only because they’ve nailed their flavors and you get to customize the bowls exactly to your liking.

(When I say these bowls are worth every single cent and more, I mean it!)

Their acai bowls start at $14.99 for a regular 16 oz bowl and climb to $16.99 for a large 24 oz bowl.

To make your acai bowl, you first get to choose up to two bases, with your options being acai, pitaya, matcha, and blue magic spirulina (+$0.49).

Next is my favorite part: choosing your granola!

Take your pick from housemade granola, chocolate chip granola, vanilla almond granola, and cocoa Rice Krispies.

Each comes in at a sweet $7.95 so they’re not only giving you a healthy fast food option but they’re making it affordable, too.

There are four acai bowls on the menu, all of which are pretty simple but still ridiculously tasty.

Firstly, the regular acai bowl costs $9.50 and is topped with granola. banana, strawberries, and honey.

Secondly, the $9.75 blueberry acai bowl is identical to that of the regular but with added blueberries!

Similarly, the $9.75 coconut acai bowl switches out the added blueberries for coconut instead.

Or alternatively, if you’d rather enjoy your acai in smoothie form, you can order their 20 oz acai smoothie for $7.50.

For this price, you’ll get to enjoy acai blended with strawberries, banana, non-fat vanilla frozen yogurt, and apple juice or soy milk.

Bottoms up!

Address: 2967 Beech St, San Diego, CA 92102

Phone number: 619-235-8423

Price per bowl: $10.99 – $12.99

Rad Habits Juice Co. is one of the coolest health spots in the city.

It was originally founded as Sacred Juice by Jenna back in 2015 and later transformed into Rad Habits Juice Co. in 2019.

She lost 100 pounds by eating real food and exercising, so she decided to share her passion for juicing with the world!

Today, their menu is filled with enough juice, smoothies, bowls, and bites to last you a lifetime.

(Or, well, at least a good few trips!)

They have three acai bowls on their menu, the OG Bowl, the Medicinal Bowl, and the Protein Bowl, which all feel pretty self-explanatory.

The OG is topped with all the culprits you’d expect, including granola, strawberry, banana, coconut, and honey.

Alternatively, the Medicinal is a surefire way to get in your greens!

To make this bowl, they blend acai with a grass and shrooms superfood blend, then top it with the same toppings as the OG.

Finally, the Protein gets you the same delicious toppings but with peanut butter and hemp protein blended in, too.

Top tip: don’t leave without picking up a piece of their merch – it’s all so cool!

Address: 1735 Adams Ave, San Diego, CA 92116

Phone number: 619-269-9618

Price per bowl: $9.50 – $10

‘Meráki’ means ‘to do something with passion, love, or creativity’ and that’s exactly what Meráki Café does.

This light and breezy cafe has an outdoor patio which is basically an Instagrammer’s dream, and luckily, their acai bowls are just as amazing.

There are seven bowls for you to choose from, ranging from $9.50 to $10 each.

Whether you want something that’s nuttier, more fruity, or anything in between, they’ve got your back.

My favorite bowl of theirs is the Acai Lime which is uniquely topped with freshly squeezed lime, strawberries, Tajin spices, granola, and honey.

Their Acai Gida is also pretty different from your typical acai bowl.

It’s topped with strawberries, blueberries, goat’s cheese (yes – goat’s cheese!), sliced almonds, granola, and honey.

I also love the Nutty Acai which is topped with organic peanut butter, sliced almonds, banana, flax seeds, granola, and honey.

Whatever you’re in the mood for, Meráki Café will make it with love!

Address: 3355 Sandrock Rd, San Diego, CA 92123

Phone number: 858-598-5906

Named after arguably the best state in the country, Cali Cafe serves up some of my favorite acai bowls in San Diego.

As expected from one of the best of the best, they have an incredible nine bowls on their menu, giving you loads of choice!

If you want to treat yourself to something extra sweet, why not go for the Chunky Monkey or Cookie Crumble bowls?

The former is acai topped with peanut butter and chocolate chips, while the latter is an acai fruit bowl topped with cookies and cream crumble and peanut butter.

If you love your chocolate, you’re sure to fall in love with both of these bowls!

However, if you’d rather up your fruit intake, why not go for the Cali Bowl instead?

It’s acai and red dragonfruit mixed with pineapple, peaches, mango, sliced almonds, honey, and coconut.

Cali Cafe is guaranteed to fulfill all your acai needs so give them a visit and get ready for acai heaven!

29. Senor Mangos

Address: Multiple locations

Price per bowl: $8.75 – $10.95

Last but by no means least, you’ll find Senor Mangos in two locations in San Diego.

The first is on 30th St, while the second is on North Park Way.

Both serve the exact same delicious acai bowls, though, so it doesn’t matter which you visit!

The first of their acai bowls costs $8.75 and gets you organic acai topped with granola, strawberries, and banana.

However, if you’re looking for something a little more extravagant, the Premium bowl will be right up your street.

For $10.95, you get organic acai and pitaya topped with pineapple, mango, strawberry, and banana.

Yum!

So that concludes the 29 best places to go for acai bowls in San Diego!

It’s no surprise that San Diego knows a thing or two about acai bowls, but these ones are next-level good.

Whichever one you decide to go for, you’ll spend every second loving it, I promise.
