The Dairy: Holiday Cottage in the Yorkshire Dales [2024 Review]

by

If you’re looking for a base to explore the Yorkshire Dales, let me point you towards Settle, a vibrant traditional market town with heaps of character.

As well as being the perfect place to see Yorkshire’s peaks, dales, caves, and waterfalls, Settle is also not far from the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.

It’s safe to say you’re perfectly positioned to explore some of England’s best natural beauty here!

Luckily, there are some fantastic holiday cottages in Yorkshire to choose from.

My friend and I recently returned from a stay at The Dairy which I’d highly recommend, so let’s show you around!

What is The Dairy?

The Dairy is a gorgeous newly renovated cottage which enjoys breathtaking views of Ingleborough.

Hidden at the end of a small farm road, it’s in a peaceful location, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

While you’ll be keen to get out and explore all the local offerings, there’s also a private raised decking to the rear where you can enjoy a morning coffee or an evening wine.

Kitchen

Your journey into The Dairy starts at the back of the property in the kitchen which had to be my favourite room in the cottage.

It’s a huge spacious open-plan room that’s light-filled and well-equipped!

It comes with everything from a huge electric oven and gas hob to a microwave and dishwasher so you’ll be left wanting for nothing.

The kitchen is one of the quirkiest rooms in the house, with bright yellow tones dominating the space and eccentric artwork donning the walls.

It’s a modern yet vibrant and unpretentious space, marrying practicality with aesthetics.

In the kitchen also sits a huge beautifully reclaimed dining table to enjoy your morning breakfast and date night dinner, or just to play games in the evening.

If you need to get some work done (though hopefully you don’t – this is your holiday after all!), the comfy seats and fast Wi-Fi make for a great office.

Living room

Like all of Classic‘s cottages, The Dairy is brimming with charm and character, and its living room is the perfect example of that.

With a huge sofa, a toasty wood burner, and cosy mood lighting, this space was made with romantic nights in mind.

After a long day on the fells, sometimes you just want to cosy up in front of the telly, and luckily, the Smart TV will help you do just that.

Whether it’s the latest Netflix hit, or a Disney classic, settle down on the sofa for a romantic movie night.

Bedroom

If a good night’s sleep is what you’re looking for, you’ll get just that at The Dairy.

The super-king size bed is spacious and so comfy so you’re sure to sleep like a baby here.

The bedroom is large and airy and offers magnificent views of the rolling countryside, making waking up in the morning just that little bit easier!

Bathrooms

At The Dairy, you’ll find not one but two bathrooms!

The first is downstairs and features a shower, while the second one upstairs has both a bath and a shower.

This light-flooded room is brightened by a skylight, through which you can watch the clouds roll by.

It also has a huge wall-length mirror so there’s plenty of space for you and your loved one to get ready together!

In the downstairs bathroom, there’s a handy washer and tumble drier so you can get all your laundry done during longer trips.

So that concludes my review of one of my favourite places to stay in Yorkshire.

It’s such a special place that I know you’ll also fall in love with and it serves as the perfect hiking base for walking adventures!

Book a stay here and see for yourself.
