A Weekend at Bakery Cottage in St Agnes, Cornwall [Review]

by

If you’re looking for a beautiful cottage to stay in St Agnes, then look no further than Bakery Cottage.

I recently got back from the most magical weekend here and now I can’t stop raving about it!

It’s cosy, characterful, and tucked away in the most beautiful pocket of the Cornish countryside.

So scroll on to read my full review of Bakery Cottage in St Agnes!

What is Bakery Cottage?

Bakery Cottage is one of my favourite holiday cottages in Cornwall.

The aptly-named cottage used to be an old baker’s shop.

However, it has since been lovingly restored into a beautiful two-bed cottage full of original features.

With two bedrooms and bathrooms, it’s the perfect place for two couples who want socialising space but their own privacy too.

However, it’s also small enough to be a great place for a romantic getaway or a small family holiday.

Prices start from just £621 for seven nights so the cottage doesn’t break the bank either.

That means that you could be paying as little as £22 per person per night to stay here!

As well as having plenty of charm and character, there are also lots of modern creature comforts inside that I can’t wait to show you.

Where is Bakery Cottage located?

You’ll find Bakery Cottage in St Agnes, a large village situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the north coast of Cornwall.

The area is teeming with sandy beaches, world-class pubs, and lots of lovely walks.

Sadly, we didn’t get to explore the local area during our visit because there were storms all weekend.

While this gave us an excuse to cosy up for the weekend, there are countless beautiful places to visit nearby.

Whether it’s popping into the village for a bite to eat, heading out on a local coastal walk, or using St Agnes as a base to explore the rest of Cornwall, you’re spoilt for choice here.

My top recommendations would be Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes Head, and Chapel Porth Beach.

But with a cottage this beautiful, I promise you won’t want to leave!

Living room

From the second you step through the stable door, you’re met by sumptuous soft furnishings and heaps of character.

The first room you enter is the living room.

It contains two comfy sofas, a cosy bronze wood burner, and a wall-mounted Smart TV.

We spent a lot of the trip curled up on the sofas under blankets watching movies on Netflix!

At the heart of the room sits a trunk which contains a selection of games and playing cards to entertain you on rainy days.

There’s also Wi-Fi throughout the cottage so you can easily connect your devices.

Kitchen

If you love cooking, then you’re going to love the country-style kitchen/diner.

With a beamed low ceiling, a large American fridge, and yet another gorgeous wood burner, the kitchen is brimming with character.

You can sit either at the four-seated dining table or on the cosy armchair by the fire.

(The perfect reading nook, FYI!)

Awaiting your arrival will be a selection of local goodies (including some delicious brownies!), as well as a chilled bottle of Prosecco in the fridge.

As for the kitchen itself, it has everything you could need and more to cook up a storm!

With a hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, and coffee maker, this kitchen has all the modern amenities you’d expect.

It even has a dishwasher because who wants to wash up while on holiday, right?!

In a separate spacious utility room out front, you’ll also find a washing machine and tumble drier.

Here you can leave your muddy boots and wash your dirty clothes after a long coastal walk.

Conservatory

Walk through the kitchen to the back of the cottage and you’ll find what is one of my favourite rooms in the cottage.

This cosy sun-filled conservatory becomes a sun trap in the warmer months.

And in the colder months, it’s warmed by an electric wall-mounted heater.

It has a great dining area where you can enjoy a sunny breakfast in the morning or a sunset drink in the evening.

We had a lovely time playing card games in here while enjoying lots of tasty nibbles.

(There’s also a freezer in this room in case you were wondering where that is!)

Bedrooms

Take the narrow and steep cottage-style stairs up to the two gorgeous bedrooms.

The first has a double bed and the second has a zip-and-link bed which can be made as either king-size or into twins.

Both bedrooms have heavenly Hypnos mattresses and luxurious bedding so I can guarantee you’ll have an incredible night’s sleep here.

Bakery Cottage feels like a home away from home and how well you’ll sleep here is a testament to that!

Bathrooms

Adjacent to the double bedroom is the main bathroom.

Here, you’ll find one of the highlights of the cottage: the gigantic free-standing bathtub.

I had so many long gorgeous soaks in here, reading and stargazing through the skylight above.

In this bathroom, there’s also an equally huge rainfall shower with an endless hot water supply and amazing water pressure.

It’s easily one of the best bathrooms I’ve ever used!

Similarly, in the king-size bedroom, there may not be a bath but there is an en-suite bathroom with another huge walk-in rain shower.

I had some of the best showers of my life here!

As it has an en-suite, it would make a great master bedroom for couples who want a bit of privacy from the kids.

Garden

If you thought the inside of Bakery Cottage was incredible, just wait until you see the outside!

The huge two-tiered garden has plenty of space for adults and children to rest and play in.

So even if you don’t get a chance to explore the local area, you’ll feel reconnected with nature after a stay here.

On the bottom tier, there’s a huge grassy area with a barbeque, as well as a lovely decked area at the back.

Here, you’ll find a picnic table and a couple of seats where you can relax, read a book, and dine al fresco.

When the sun comes out, this decking area transforms into an incredible suntrap where you can sunbathe for hours on end.

Next to the decking area, there’s a little gate that will take you up to the top of the garden!

Walk up the narrow grassy path and you’ll soon discover an incredible covered outdoor bar with a beautifully crafted wooden table and chairs and another area to lounge.

Whether you fancy crafting a creative cocktail or sipping on an ice-cold beer, the bar’s the perfect place for it.

The sunsets up here are truly spectacular too.

And the height of the garden means you can watch the sunset over the nearby valley.

It’s pretty special!

Also tucked away right at the top of the garden is a covered bench area which makes for the perfect reading nook come rain or shine.

Head up here at golden hour with a book and thank me later.

One of the best things about this cottage is that it’s dog-friendly.

And luckily for the furry friend in your life, there’s plenty of space for them to run free in the garden.

Just keep an eye on your wine glasses, won’t you?!

So there you have it: my full review of Bakery Cottage in St Agnes!

I had the best time here and I know that if you decide to stay here, you will too.

However, if this one hasn’t taken your fancy, Classic Cottages has so many other great holiday cottages in St Agnes that you can take a look at.

It’s a charming little village that makes for a dreamy staycation spot!
