And Canggu is the jewel on the island’s brunch crown!
If you’re looking for the best breakfast in Canggu then you’re in luck because I’ve rounded up all my favourite spots in this handy list.
I love going out for breakfast which is why I took it upon myself to try out as many breakfast cafes as humanly possible during my last trip to Canggu.
From Instagrammable brunches to vegan brunches, local brunch spots to tourist hotspots, there’s something for everyone here.

1. The Common

The Common is one of my favourite spots for breakfast in Canggu – so much so, that I’ve eaten here multiple times!
This laid-back cafe takes its inspiration from California and Mexico so you can expect all the brunch classics as well as Mexican-inspired cuisine.
Join them from 7 to 11 am daily for their Brekkie Club where you can enjoy their most-loved breakfast dishes with a coffee and juice for 110k.
Alternatively, have your pick from individual items on their breakfast menu!
My favourites are the corn fritter stack, brekky burrito, and the chef’s French toast, but really, it’s all super tasty.
Vegans don’t need to miss out on the fun either as they’ve got an acai bowl, quinoa granola, and avo on toast to choose from.
Top tip: The Common is best known for its mind-blowing margs so order a few of those to make your breakfast a boozy one!
2. Penny Lane

For the most stunning place to go for breakfast in Canggu, look no further than Penny Lane.
Penny Lane is a huge boho-chic open-air breakfast spot that’s beautifully decked in greenery and flowers.
Think palm trees, millennial pink, and bohemian scatter cushions, and you’re on the right lines.
And luckily, their food is just as impressive as the interior design!
On their 8 am to 3 pm breakfast menu, you’ll find everything from shakshuka baked eggs to salmon smashed avo to the breakfast club burger.
Or alternatively, if you’d prefer something a little lighter, they also serve up some beautiful smoothie bowls and some tasty salads.
My favourite salad I’ve tried is the Tokyo Soba but they’re all incredible.
Pair it with a smoothie or a juice and you’ll be starting your day on the right foot!
3. Copenhagen

If you love the idea of building your own breakfast, Copenhagen offers a tick-box breakfast board that I’m completely obsessed with.
How does it work?
Well, they give you a paper menu and you just tick everything you want across their breakfast categories (bakery, eggs, fruits/greens, protein, and sweet) and then they’ll bring it to you!
Three items cost 69k, five cost 99k, and then any further items are 27k a pop.
I’ve been here a couple of times and my favourite items were the avocado smash with coriander and sesame seeds, the sauteed mushrooms with chilli and garlic, and the vegan cinnamon roll!
There’s truly something for everyone here so whether you’re plant-based or a meat eater, you’ll be well-fed at Copenhagen.
And the best bit?
The cafe is open from 6 am daily meaning even early risers can get in on the fun!
4. The Avocado Factory

Avo lovers, listen up as I might have just found the best breakfast in Canggu for you!
Avocado is the shining star of the aptly-named Avocado Factory‘s menu – and boy is this menu a good one.
I’ve tried a few things here but the dishes I go back to time and time again are the avo pancakes, the spicy mash, and the 7 spices fried rice.
But in total, you have over 15 breakfast dishes to choose from!
For a more Indonesian take on avocado, the 7 spices fried rice is a winner.
It’s made up of rice, spinach, king oyster mushrooms, torch ginger, kencur, avocado, corn, and avo rice crackers, and it’s full of flavour.
They do avocado really well here so you’d be a fool not to try it!
5. Crate Café

And if you’re a big fan of beautiful smoothie bowls, filling salads, and unique breakfast dishes, you’ll be sure to agree!
There are many things to love about Crate but one of the best things about it is how vegan-friendly it is.
Menu highlights include the sauteed mushrooms and aioli toast and the smash-it-up plate that comes with scrambled tofu, avocado, cherry tomatoes, and onion.
But really, it’s all super yummy!
And to make things even better, this cafe is one of the coolest in Canggu.
Not only does the trendy open-air building house a cafe but also an art gallery and a boutique store.
More a lifestyle destination than a cafe, you’ll quickly see why it made the top of this list!
6. Nude

With a name like Nude, it’s probably unsurprising to hear that this cafe lives by the mantra ‘healthy body, healthy mind’.
But they’re also all about balance – you won’t find boring healthy food here!
No, instead you get delightful dishes like truffle scrambled eggs, sweetcorn fritters, chilli scramble tofu, and so much more!
The shakshuka is also phenomenal here, as is the potato rosti stack, both of which will fuel you for a big day of exploring or work.
Enjoy whatever you order in Nude’s gorgeous Instagrammable surroundings.
We’re talking white-washed walls, hanging greenery, and lots of natural light!
7. Cinta Cafe

Cinta, pronounced “Chinta”, is the Indonesian word for “love”.
And I’ve got to say, I LOVE this cafe!
Not only does this open-air cafe look over the most beautiful rice fields (which look great in an Instagram pic!) but it also has an amazing menu of comforting but healthy breakfast food.
Think baked eggs and truffle scramble, and you’re on the right track.
Alternatively, if you have a sweet tooth, their French toast is said to be the stuff of dreams and I can personally vouch for their smoothie bowls.
Order one – I promise it won’t disappoint!
8. Rise & Shine Cafe

Start your day the right way at Rise & Shine Cafe.
Opening at 7 am daily, Rise & Shine is a vibrant breakfast spot serving comforting food, coffee, and juices.
If you’re a big meat eater then I’d recommend the cali brisket burrito, or if you’re vegan, go for the super scramble on multi-grain toast.
Another crowd-pleaser is the cinnamon brioche French toast which goes down a treat after a big night out.
In total, there are an amazing 18 dishes to choose from so there’s something for everyone at Rise & Shine!
9. Canteen Cafe

Canteen Cafe‘s self-effacing name downplays just how great it is.
This local-run warung might be simple but its food is anything but!
Expect good food, good coffee, and good company from this cafe that starts serving from 7 am daily.
From lighter options like granola and porridge to more substantial dishes like omelettes and breakfast burritos, they do it all here at Canteen.
Fan favourites are the cinnamon and vanilla French toast and the breakfast panini filled with egg, bacon, and cheese.
But everything they serve is super tasty so you won’t be disappointed whatever you order!
10. Cafe Vida

If the photo above doesn’t already have you running to Cafe Vida then I don’t know what will!
Cafe Vida is an organic restaurant and boutique espresso coffee shop that just so happens to serve some of the best breakfast in Canggu.
Their menu prioritises local produce and features a huge range of savoury and sweet breakfast items.
10 savoury and 12 sweet, to be exact!
If you have a savoury tooth, my top recommendation would be the avocado pesto toast.
Alternatively, if you like to keep things sweet, my friend loved the French Resistance (cinnamon and vanilla brioche with loads of lovely toppings!).
11. Milk & Madu

If you’re looking for an easy-going, relaxed breakfast in Canggu, then Milk & Madu is the place for it.
Milk & Madu is a small Balinese chain with locations all over the island, and they’re best known for their buzzing atmosphere.
They serve food from dusk to dawn, and while they’re great at any time of day, I have a soft spot for their breakfasts.
I’ve tried a few and my favourite would have to be the smashed peas over grilled sourdough.
However, if you’re looking for something more substantial, their breakfast burrito is sure to hit the spot!
Be sure to also try their toasted homemade banana bread – I was dreaming about it for weeks after I had it.
12. ZIN Cafe

ZIN Cafe is a go-to work spot for remote workers living in Canggu, and it’s not hard to see why!
As well as having a great free co-working space, ZIN also has a super-cool rooftop and three other floors.
The beautiful open-air cafe serves food early til late, with their breakfast menu mainly being made up of the classics you know and love.
We’re talking avocado on toast, tofu scramble, and smoothie bowls galore!
However, if you’re looking for something a little more unique, I’d recommend the special breakfast panino or the Korean Benedict eggs, both of which are said to be really tasty.
13. Koast Cafe

Nestled in a hidden beach house oasis, Koast is a pretty hideaway serving equally pretty breakfast dishes.
Their all-day menu is made up of 50% breakfast food and it’s one of my favourite menus in Canggu.
Some of the deliciousness you can tuck into here are crisp waffles, a truffle omelette, and a breakfast roll, all of which are super tasty.
Pair your food with one of Koast’s amazing coffees or juices and you’re onto a winner with this one!
14. Ruko Cafe

Everyone knows that Aussies do brunch the best which is why it’s always great to see Aussie-style cafes popping up around the world.
And with amazing brunch dishes and even better coffee, Ruko Cafe is one of those cafes.
Their breakfast menu is one of the largest in Canggu making it great for a big group with different tastes and dietary requirements.
From breakfast favourites to toasties to smoothie bowls, Ruko Cafe has it all and then some.
Not sure where to start?
Well, I’d highly recommend the truffled potato croquettes, the breakfast tacos, and the vanilla pancakes.
15. Monsieur Spoon

Last but by no means least, I’ve got a great recommendation for those with a sweet tooth!
Monsieur Spoon, an artisan bakery cafe, serves the best breakfast in Canggu for those who love baked goods.
At this aptly-named cafe, you can indulge in high-quality handmade French pastries, cakes, bread, and so much more.
Here, you’ll find classics like croque monsieur and almond croissants, alongside more substantial breakfast dishes too.
We’re talking a breakfast burger, French toast, sauteed mushrooms on toast, and the list goes on…
So whether your appetite is big or small, there will be something here for you at Monsieur Spoon!
