This is a place that’s crafted with love and endless creativity, using bits and pieces that were found around the family farm.

Sit by the fire pit as the sun goes down behind the Shropshire Hills, and as darkness settles, curl up with a glass of wine under the twinkling fairy lights.

Cook up a storm in the small kitchen space, or head out to the nearby town of Ludlow for a treat.

Trust me, there’s nowhere else quite like The Bivvy!

What guests say: “Blissful. The Bivvy stands in its lofty, isolated splendour – with views across the Clee hills that are constantly changing. We did not draw the curtains and woke to that view from bed every dawn. The Bivvy is small but beautifully crafted – a back-to-basics break that left us totally restored. The shower with a view was delightful. Andy was the perfect host, on hand if we needed but otherwise unobtrusive. What guests say: “We visited as a family (with children aged five and one), staying in a safari tent. I’ve been a camping lover all my life but this was something else. We were blessed with sunny weather and the tent and hot tub were amazing. Every need was catered for and some well-thought-out additions like the children’s den and bed above. The site amenities were all great, didn’t get a chance to try out the heated outdoor pool or gym but the children loved the playground. It’s how campsites should be!”

Price per night: From £37 for 6 people

Location: Market Drayton

The Fordhall Farm Yurts are one of the most magical escapes around.

Their yurts have been made in Shropshire, and it’s truly special.

The yurts sleep up to six people, offering a wonderfully secluded spot that’s perfect if you’re looking for a total escape from daily life.

Inside your yurt, you’ll find comfy furnishing and rustic-chic décor.

Step outside, and you’ll find yourself in your private decked area, which is complete with a gas BBQ for cooking al fresco.

At the right time of year, you’ll also be lucky enough to enjoy their edible garden, which grows everything from marigolds to gooseberries.

This really is the dream glamping stay!

What guests say: “This was our second time going glamping and the kids thoroughly enjoyed staying in a yurt again. Having two yurts connected together gave us a lot of space and the interior was decorated really nicely and it felt very cosy. It was a little chilly at night but the wood burner helped us to stay warm. The kids really enjoyed waking up in the mornings to sit outside on the terrace to see the cows greeting them right up at the yurt gate and to watch the farmer on his quad bike herding the sheep.”

28. Mountain Edge Resort Pods

Price per night: From £50 for 2 people (each person extra is £5 per person per night up to 5 people)

Location: Marshbrook, nr Church Stretton

The Mountain Edge Resort Pods are a real dream come true.

They’re in the heart of the Shropshire Hills, and you’re going to love them.

They’re simple, comfy and spacious, with space for up to five people.

The pods are insulated, too, so you’ll be protected against British weather at all times!

They have five pods on offer, each of which is absolutely stunning.

Outside your pod, you’ll find a lovely decking area that’s perfect for sunbathing or star gazing.

Spend your day exploring the Shropshire Hills, then head back to your home away from home.

If you fancy an extra dose of luxury, go for a Mega Pod or a lodge, both of which have hot tubs.

Trust me, it doesn’t get much better than this!

What guests say: “We have just returned from two days at Mountain Edge, staying in the Mega Pod. We cannot fault it at all. The pods were spacious and spotlessly clean. The resort was peaceful and an easy drive to many activities and towns. If you’re into nature, this place is a must!”
