And luckily for you, there are some beautiful treehouses in Herefordshire for you to stay in.

So whether you’re planning a romantic retreat or a family break, here’s my round-up of the 7 best treehouses in Herefordshire!

1. Drovers’ Bough

Price per night: From £245 for 2 people

Address: Gwyrlodydd, Lower Newton, Lower Maescoed, Herefordshire HR2 0HP

Deep in the foothills of the Black Mountains, you’ll find Drovers’ Bough, a true architectural masterpiece.

Every inch of the award-winning treehouse was carefully hand-crafted by Akin StudioLouis Jobst Studio, and the owner, Mark Hamilton.

From the handmade furniture to the bespoke decorative lighting, it’s clear to see a lot of love and thought has gone into the treehouse.

So much so, that it took them five years to bring their vision to life!

Inside, you’ll find a large open-plan living space comprising a fully-equipped kitchen, a spacious living and dining area with a Smart TV and wood burner, a bathroom, and a mezzanine bedroom with a king-size bed.

You’ll be left wanting for nothing here, and it will quickly feel like a home away from home!

The treehouse is hidden amongst trees and enveloped in rolling green hills, with nothing but the sound of birdsong soundtracking your stay.

Spend your time stargazing by the campfire, reading in the hammock, or walking through the fields.

What guests say: “My stay was simply perfect. The property is a piece of stunning architecture handmade by the owners. It’s lovingly made and every piece of furniture is beautiful. It has everything you need, and the most amazing spot in the middle of nowhere. They left the most beautiful welcome gift of some eggs and homemade apple juice, which was warmly received.”

Price per night: From £194 for 2 people

The Rookery Woods is a luxurious woodland retreat, home to three handcrafted treehouses in Herefordshire.

All three treehouses sleep two people, making them ideal for a romantic weekend away with your partner.

Each treehouse has its merits but what’s common throughout is the surrounding thriving woodland and the huge windows that let the views and light flood in.

Expect romantic touches like candle-lit roll-top baths, bubbling hot tubs, luxurious king-size beds, and cinema projector screens.

Want to make your stay even better?

Then treat yourself to one of their welcome hampers, filled with local award-winning treats, Prosecco on ice, and more!

The Rookery Woods is easily one of my favourite places to go glamping in Herefordshire, and if you book a stay here, you’ll soon see why.

What guests say: “We had the most incredible long weekend here. Amazing accommodation and lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome. We made the most of our stay by exploring our surroundings, making full use of the wonderful log burner and stargazing on the balcony while listening to the wildlife around us.”

Price per night: From £295 for 4 people

Address: Brinsop, Herefordshire HR4 8LS

The Quist Treehouse is the newest of these Herefordshire treehouses and what an addition it is!

This luxurious treetop cabin is perched at the top of a hill on an 800-acre private estate deep in the heart of Herefordshire.

It’s full of romantic touches and sleeps up to four people in two super-king-size beds, making it ideal for a young family or two couples.

Double date, anyone?!

While the treehouse is eco-friendly and off-grid, it doesn’t compromise on luxury!

From a Swedish wood-fired hot tub and an extra-large stone bath to central heating and luxury bedding, no stone has been left unturned.

There’s even a hot outdoor shower for adventurous folk who want to immerse themselves in nature!

And inside, the interior decor is just as spectacular as the views from the treehouse’s balcony.

The Quist truly is a work of art.

What guests say: “The photos on this listing were beautiful but even they couldn’t really capture how very special this place is. This treetop cabin is clearly a labour of love – full of thoughtful and beautiful touches designed to make it the perfect retreat! We loved our time hiding away in the forest.”

Price per night: From £210 for 2 people

Address: Turnastone, Hereford HR2 0RE

The Fold Treehouse may be small but it sure packs a punch.

This beautifully crafted off-grid treehouse is perched on the hillside of an 18-acre local wildlife reserve – and it’s oh-so-romantic!

Inside, you’ll find a super-king-size bed, a fully-equipped kitchen, a wood-burning stove, and a modern, luxurious bathroom.

The huge French windows at the front allow the golden light to pour through the valley and into the property.

However, you’ll not want to spend too much time inside when the views are this spectacular!

Head out onto your decking and you’ll find a gorgeous freestanding copper tub and a second wood-burning stove you can cosy up to.

Sit back and relax with your morning coffee in hand, or with a glass of wine as the sun goes down later in the day.

What guests say: “A sanctuary in the trees! This was such a wonderful place to stay and recoup for a special few days. The place is so well insulated we didn’t even need the wood burner on for long to get it toasty. And then there’s the outdoor bath… a heavenly dip amongst a view of branches and stars.”

Brook House Woods is home to four charming treehouses, with three sleeping two people and their newest treehouse sleeping ten.

Oriana, Humboldt, and Venn are their three romantic treehouses and they benefit from all kinds of luxuries.

Think rolltop veranda baths and fluffy feather king-size beds and you’re on the right track.

Akin to a hotel in the trees, they even offer room service and serve some incredible homecooked food!

However, if you’re looking for a treehouse in Herefordshire that’ll host a big family or friend getaway, then look no further than Journeyman.

The imposing but welcoming treehouse was recently handbuilt to sleep up to ten guests and have incredible entertaining space.

We’re talking double outdoor roll-top baths, a BBQ and pizza oven, a pool table, a large kitchen and dining area, and a projector for movie nights!

What guests say: “What a serene place! The location was amazing and the cabin was clean and spacious with stunning views. I added some extras like a massage, pizza making and breakfast hampers which I would 100% recommend. We stayed for 2 nights which were amazing but wish it could have been longer!”

6. Fisherman’s Treehouse

Hidden amongst the trees next to a scenic fishing lake, the appropriately named Fisherman’s Treehouse is a truly impressive feat.

Made with couples and young families in mind, the treehouse has a double bedroom, as well as a small sofa bed for young ones to sleep in!

As well as the bedroom, the treehouse contains a fully-equipped kitchen, an open-plan living and dining area with a TV, and a luxurious bathroom.

However, it’s the outside space that makes this treehouse super special!

Enjoy dining alfresco on the wraparound decking, or head downstairs to relax in the private bubbling hot tub or on the swing seat.

But if the weather’s not on your side don’t worry because you can enjoy the surrounding woodland views from the comfort of your cosy treehouse.

What guests say: “A truly magical and secluded treehouse which makes you feel as though you’re living among the tree tops in a forest. This is a proper treehouse with trees growing through it! Sitting in the hot tub underneath the treehouse at night with the lights flickering was amazing.”

For the most unique treehouse in the area, look no further than Phoenix Tree at Goytree Glamping.

Appearing to have been plucked straight out of a fairytale, this one-of-a-kind eco treehouse is unlike all the other treehouses in Herefordshire.

It feels more akin to a safari tent than it does a cabin!

The treehouse sits on top of an oak tree and is made from a blend of straw bale walls, bamboo rafters, ingenious ironwork, and a bespoke canvas roof with a romantic skylight.

You may be thinking that this off-grid treehouse is a little more back-to-basics than the others and you’d be right.

But it does have a gorgeous Japanese wood-fired hot tub that’s surrounded by the romantic glow of hanging lanterns.

However you choose to spend your time here, you’ll sleep easy knowing that this is the cheapest treehouse in Herefordshire.

At just £140 a night, a stay here is an absolute steal!

What guests say: “Honestly the most magical stay we have ever had. We didn’t even leave the treehouse for the 2 days we were there. The views are mesmerising, let alone the whole structure of the tree house! Brings back playfulness into your soul as well as peace.”
