Vegan Restaurants Glasgow: 20 Best Vegan Food Spots [2024]

by

Something you might not know about Glasgow is that it previously won the title of the most vegan-friendly city in the UK.

And it’s no surprise, really!

With fully-vegan restaurants, plant-based bakeries, and impressive vegan-friendly menus, Glasgow is the place to be if you’re on the hunt for some good vegan scran.

If you want to test the city’s reputation for yourself then you’re in luck because I’ve rounded up all the best vegan restaurants in Glasgow!

From fine dining to comfort food to delicious desserts, here are the 20 best vegan restaurants in Glasgow.

1. Mono

plate-of-mushrooms-and-vegetables-from-mono-cafe-bar

Address: 12 Kings Court, Glasgow G1 5RB

Phone number: 0141 553 2400

Starting strong with one of my favourite vegan restaurants in Glasgow, we have Mono.

This restaurant-café-bar doubles as a live music venue and it’s seriously cool.

Opening back in 2002, Mono paved the way for Glasgow’s vegan restaurant scene as one of the first places to offer an entirely vegan menu in the city.

The menu features staples like ‘Mono Mac N Cheese’ and sourdough pizza, as well as killer desserts like their ‘Toasted Donut Ice Cream Sandwich’ and a chocolate tart.

As well as hosting live music and events, Mono also has a music shop, Monorail Music, under the same roof.

Here, you can browse new releases and old records to add to your collection!

2. Stereo

Address: 22-28 Renfield Ln, Glasgow G2 5AR

Phone number: 0141 222 2254

Stereo has a very similar vibe to Mono, which would make sense as they’re partner restaurants!

This café-bar feels laid-back during the day and delightfully buzzy in the evenings and on weekends.

Located inside a building designed by Glasgow’s own Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the venue has plenty of interesting features.

However, it’s their menu that’s the real star of the show!

If you’re looking for a hangover cure or to line your stomach, Stereo does proper vegan comfort food.

Think toasted sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and seasonal pies (with a special mention to the jackfruit fish and chips, which is out of this world).

The portions are generous, the drinks are always flowing, and the music keeps the energy going all night.

3. The 13th Note

Address: 50-60 King St, Glasgow G1 5QT

Phone number: 0141 553 1638

The 13th Note describes itself as a bar/café/venue/lover of dogs, which is very handy if you happen to be travelling with a four-legged friend.

All their food is ethically sourced and free from animal cruelty, with a fine selection of vegan wines and beers from local breweries to boot!

The menu features flavourful small plates, inventive large plates, and a selection of plant-based burgers bound to get your mouth watering.

(Plus, some truly classic desserts-turned-vegan including cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding!)

For a little vegan pub on the corner, it doesn’t get much better than this!

4. The 78

Address: 10-14 Kelvinhaugh St, Glasgow G3 8NU

Phone number: 0141 576 5018

Over in Finnieston, The 78 is a cosy restaurant with a Victorian-era bar, a roaring coal fire, and cracking food served from noon ‘til 9 every day.

All their food and drink is 100% vegan and 100% delicious!

Falafel kebab, daily dahl specials, mushroom tacos, and a tofu Rueben burger are just some of the delights that feature on their menu.

Plus, they host live music (that tends to be a thing with vegan spots in Glasgow, you might have noticed!) as well as weekly pub quizzes and themed music nights including jazz, reggae, and more.

So once the food is finished, you’ll almost definitely want to stick around for a while!

5. Plant Blonde

If you have a big sweet tooth, then Plant Blonde in the West End might look a little something like heaven to you.

Serving up a whole host of goodies baked onsite, they specialise in biscuits, brownies, cupcakes, brookies and cookies.

(Their signature empire biscuits rank top of the recommendations list, though, coming in a range of tasty flavours and themes!)

Don’t be fooled, though, as this isn’t just a bakery!

Plant Blonde also has a gorgeous menu of smoothie bowls, soups, focaccia sandwiches, granola pots, and more, so you’ll find something for every craving.

And if you somehow needed more convincing, the bakery and its lovely goods look pretty good on Instagram too!

One of the trendiest pizza spots in town, Pizza Punks is famous for its ‘Punk’d Up’ sourdough pizzas that can be customised with unlimited toppings.

Yep, that’s right: you can add as many as you like without paying extra!

They have veggie and vegan options galore, and it’s not just vegetable toppings on offer.

There are loads of fun toppings, like BBQ-pulled jackfruit and plant-based nduja, pepperoni, and Tuscan sausage.

Moreover, they also have an amazing Veganuary menu each year with a selection of fully vegan specials.

Oh, and a few oat milk cocktails for good measure, too!

One of the best cocktail bars in Glasgow?

I think so!

How about an all-day breakfast or focaccia French toast?

Small plates of mushroom fritters or patatas bravas?

Whatever you choose, you’ll be eating for a great cause: The Glad Foundation!

And somehow a bit of philanthropy makes everything taste better?

Down to Earth uses 100% organic, fresh produce from local suppliers (many of whom are start-ups, too).

And they pride themselves on their cold-pressed juices, offering a range of seasonal flavours each and every morning.

Newly licenced, they’ve recently started experimenting with their closing times by staying open that little bit later for pop-up supper evenings.

Credited by some as ‘the food that turned me vegan’, Biff’s makes award-winning, sauce-dripping vegan junk food made mostly out of jackfruit.

And it’s all served from Glasgow’s very own BrewDog at Kelvingrove!

They’ve really nailed down their recipes for fried jackfruit burgers and wings, as well as loaded fries with a bunch of truly sensational toppings.

You’d hardly believe it’s all completely vegan!

In true junk food style, Biff’s is also available on Deliveroo in Glasgow, so you can even order food from the comfort of your digs.
