Tinderbox Espresso Bar is easily one of the most popular coffee shops in Glasgow (and for good reason).

Located on the busy Ingram Street, the atmosphere here is relaxed and inviting.

It’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends, read a few chapters of a book, or even knuckle down and get some work done.

They serve up undeniably good coffee, as well as a cracking selection of light bites and snacks.

Perfect if you’re on the go during a busy day in Glasgow!

3. OUTLIER

Address: 38 London Rd, Glasgow G1 5NB

One of the more recent additions to Glasgow’s coffee scene is OUTLIER, a coffee house tucked away inside an unassuming, pink-painted building.

It’s a coffee shop, bakery, kitchen and gallery all rolled into one.

Here you’ll find a weekly rotating menu of special dishes and treats as well as the core classics – including the fantastic coffee itself.

Since opening, they’ve created a brilliant little community around the coffee shop (they even have their own running club!), and it really shows through the buzzy little atmosphere.

4. Sprigg

Address: 241 Ingram St, Glasgow G1 1DA

Famous for serving up fresh bowls and awesome coffee, Sprigg is an incredibly popular lunchtime spot for those looking for fresh and fast takeaway food.

Their coffee goal is to bring exceptional, seasonal coffee to high street locations.

And it can’t be denied they’ve achieved this through their city centre shop!

Here you can expect friendly staff, recyclable packaging (which they’ll take care of if you drop it back into the shop), and an authentic ethos.

It’s no wonder the coffee tastes so good.

5. Black Pine Coffee Company

Phone number: 07503 672430

If you like your coffee shops small and cosy, then Black Pine Coffee Company will be one of the best coffee shops in Glasgow for you.

This gorgeous little sanctuary is found on the West End’s bustling Great Western Road.

Step inside and you can expect locally roasted coffee, beans, cakes, and pastries – with super-fast service to boot.

Plus, the prices are very fair (which can be a rarity in the West End!).

6. Grain and Grind

Address: Multiple locations

Now serving at multiple locations in Glasgow (and even Inverness!), Grain and Grind is one of my favourite coffee shops in Glasgow.

While all their locations are great, their Strathbungo location has to be one of the best.

It’s their smallest shop and it’s takeaway only, but the counter is jam-packed with delicious bakes and sandwiches to go alongside a cracking cup of coffee.

It’s the perfect coffee shop to stop off at on a stroll around the Southside on a sunny day!

7. Kaf Coffee

Address: 5 Hyndland St, Glasgow G11 5QE

If you’re on the hunt for something a little more quirky, Kaf Coffee is an independent speciality coffee shop and bakery that won’t disappoint.

Another takeaway-only location, Kaf uses single-origin coffee beans which give their coffee a very distinct taste – and it’s really good.

Kaf’s second premises in Bearsden, Kaf Goods, even has a general store attached.

Here you can buy the best cook’s ingredients, cheese, cured meats, condiments, and sauces.

(Oh, and more coffee too!)

8. Plant Blonde

Address: 61-63 Hyndland St, Glasgow G11 5PS

One for the vegans!

Plant Blonde is a fully vegan bakery and café in the West End, serving up cakes, sandwiches, and of course, great coffee.

When the weather is nice, they put little pink tables and chairs out front.

Here you can sip your coffee and nibble on fresh bakes, while watching the world go by.

Plus, it would be a crime not to try one of their signature vegan empire biscuits, which come in flavours like Biscoff and salted caramel.

This is one of the best vegan restaurants in Glasgow so you won’t regret a trip here!

9. Hinba Coffee Roasters

Address: 86 Dumbarton Rd, Glasgow G11 6NX

Originating from the west coast of Scotland with their very own Hebridean-roasted coffee, Hinba are independent, Scottish coffee roasters who (thankfully) brought their unique blend to the city of Glasgow.

You’ll easily spot their distinctive green shopfront on Dumbarton Road.

Or just follow your nose and you’ll get there soon enough!

They care deeply about the environment and ensure their goods are free from all pollutants – and their packaging is recyclable, too.

And if you love the coffee that much, they even sell their blends to take home!

10. Offshore Coffee

blue-exterior-of-offshore-coffee-in-daytime

Address: 3-5 Gibson St, Glasgow G12 8NU

Phone number: 0141 341 0110

Describing themselves as a “no-fuss” coffee shop, Offshore Coffee is the place to go if you love coffee but don’t particularly love the fanfare around it.

The bright blue exterior sets the tone for this quirky coffee shop, and it has an undoubtedly welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

As well as the classics, they do a brilliant range of iced coffees, too.

Or even an affogato which you can enjoy al fresco in the Glasgow sunshine!

11. iCafé

cakes-and-sandwiches-at-counter-of-icafe

Address: 70-72 Ingram St, Glasgow G1 1EX

Phone number: 0141 548 6902

iCafé is an absolute staple for students and young professionals who like their coffee with a side of sturdy Wi-Fi.

This multi-award-winning coffee house has a few spots across the city – each one with plenty of seating, so you’ll nearly always find a table.

There are a few fun options on their ‘Signature Drinks’ menu, including a Nutella Cappuccino, Cinnamon Mocha, and Strawberry Cappuccino.

Plus, they focus on using excellent, quality ingredients and roast their coffee in-house each week, alongside making their own halal food in their central kitchen.

Bon appétit!

12. Us V Them Coffee

us-v-them-coffee-best-coffee-shops-glasgow

Address: 200 Gallowgate, Glasgow G1 5DR

Now this might sound like a bit of an odd one, but Us V Them Coffee is actually a workshop that installs and repairs coffee equipment for businesses.

But their main workshop is a coffee bar, too!

Located at the Gallowgate, just one chat with the staff here and you can tell they really know their coffee.

(And the equipment to make it, obviously!)

They always have great music playing in the coffee bar, so it’s a fun atmosphere, and a solid choice of house and guest brews to sip on.

Special shout out to their cold brew, too!

13. Space Speciality Coffee House

Address: 540 Dumbarton Rd, Glasgow G11 6SW

If the bright pink walls and leafy interior of Space Speciality Coffee House don’t cheer you up before your caffeine fix, then I don’t know what will.

As well as serving up their delicious (and wide variety of) coffee blends, they also have an impressive stock of artisan coffees for sale so you can recreate the magic at home.

They also run regular coffee-tasting events, allowing customers to try different blends and figure out what flavours they like best.

Who needs a wine or gin tasting when you can have a coffee one, huh?

14. Social Bite

flowers-outside-social-bite-cafe-in-daytime

Address: 10 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3GF

Phone number: 0131 353 0250

On a mission to end homelessness, Scottish charity Social Bite has opened their very first coffee shop in Glasgow city centre.

And the best bit is that 100% of profits are reinvested into their brilliant cause!

Offering training and employment opportunities to people in a situation of homelessness, as well as a ‘Pay It Forward’ system, each cup of coffee fuels so much more than just your day.

The coffee beans are organic, Fairtrade, and triple certified, and a small menu of handmade cakes and pastries is always available.

Plus, the location is really handy.

There’s no better place to enjoy a cup of coffee than in the heart of the city centre!

15. The Willow Tea Rooms

cafe-tables-and-blue-walls-inside-the-willow-tea-rooms

Address: 97 Buchanan St, Glasgow G1 3HF

Phone number: 0141 204 5242

Where do you go when you’re a coffee lover, but the rest of the group prefers tea?

The Willow Tea Rooms, of course!

It’s easily one of the most beautiful spots to enjoy a cuppa in the city, with a stunning collection of Charles Rennie Mackintosh designs including his bizarrely beautiful high-backed chairs.

You might think a tearoom wouldn’t pay much attention to their coffee menu, but they haven’t overlooked it here at The Willow.

Beautifully blended beans make the perfect espresso, latte, flat white, and more – so both tea and coffee lovers will be kept happy at this spot!

16. Laboratorio Espresso

counter-and-tables-inside-laboratorio-espresso

Address: 93 West Nile St, Glasgow G1 2SH

Phone number: 0141 353 1111

Laboratorio Espresso is an Italian-inspired espresso bar tucked away in the city centre.

And they really have their coffee game down to a fine art!

The small, glass-fronted café only has a couple of tables and window seats.

However, the metal benches and chairs outside mean that you can enjoy your coffee al fresco.

They rotate their roasts fairly regularly, sourcing seasonal flavours from small-batch roasters, but no matter what you choose, you’re guaranteed to appreciate its craft.

Oh, and a special shout out to their range of cannolis, which make the perfect post-coffee snack!

17. Spitfire Espresso

people-working-inside-spitfire-espresso-in-daytime

Address: 127 Candleriggs, Glasgow G1 1NP

Phone number: 07578 250105

Located in Glasgow’s Merchant City, Spitfire Espresso has a fun, friendly vibe with retro décor and a cool playlist.

Oh, and it’s family-run!

The bright red espresso machine is a feature in the café, already lovingly stacked with vintage memorabilia.

But more importantly, it makes a great coffee, too!

It’s very reasonably priced for the city centre, with a great food menu and baked goods selection if you’re stopping by for a bite to eat.

They even serve a range of craft beers, if your coffee isn’t quite cutting it!

18. Thomsons Coffee

Address: 211 Fenwick Rd, Giffnock G46 6JD

Phone number: 0141 637 0683

With over 20+ coffee roasts to choose from, Thomsons Coffee is the place to go if you have a particular taste, or simply want to try something new.

Originally founded in 1841, this independently-owned Scottish family business has a rich heritage and has truly helped pioneer the Glasgow coffee scene.

Using state-of-the-art roasting equipment, they take pride in producing exceptional coffees to be enjoyed by loyal customers and first-timers, alike.

The coffee shop itself is sleek and calming – the perfect place to spend a morning.

19. Short Long Black

black-exterior-of-short-long-black-coffee-shop

Address: 501 Victoria Rd, Glasgow G42 8RL

And, in case you want to enjoy some Thomsons Coffee in a different neighbourhood of Glasgow, Short Long Black has got you covered.

This time in Glasgow’s Southside, SLB (for short) combines Thomson’s Coffee with organic Ayrshire milk to create what is arguably the best flat white in town.

The shop itself is beautifully fitted, with dark walls and rustic wooden features, which makes for a very cool spot to relax and unwind.

(If you’re lucky enough to grab a seat, that is!)

20. Riverhill Coffee Bar

blue-exterior-of-riverhill-coffee-bar-in-daytime

Address: 24 Gordon St, Glasgow G1 3PU

Phone number: 0141 204 4762

An understated coffee bar, Riverhill Coffee Bar likes to keep things simple.

Think delicious food and great coffee in understated yet stylish surroundings.

Nestled between shops in the busy city centre, this spot has got to be one of the best places in the city to enjoy a hot coffee while people-watching.

Simply take a pew at the bar by the window, or even on the little wooden benches they often put outside.

Every cup of coffee is made from beans that are ground-to-order, with a selection of fresh sandwiches and bakes available, too.

This is one of my favourite coffee shops in Glasgow and after just one visit you’ll understand why.

BONUS: Glasgow Coffee Festival

crowds-of-people-at-glasgow-coffee-festival

Fondly known as ‘Scotland’s biggest coffee party’, Glasgow Coffee Festival invites you to bring along your favourite reusable cup and enjoy a weekend of tastings, talks, and delicious coffee.

A true celebration of Scottish speciality coffee, the festival attracts over 2000 people each year – and it keeps on growing.

Plus, all profits are donated to worthy causes – most recently to establishing a coffee scholarship, providing young people in Scotland with the skills needed to achieve a career in speciality coffee.

So, there you have it: the top 21 coffee shops in Glasgow.

Whether you’re looking for a quick caffeine fix or a spot for a nice, leisurely brunch, you’re sure to find the perfect coffee in Glasgow.
